Potential Rule 8 Question: Regarding the Recent Anti-NSFW Content Bans...

This is something the architects of project 2025 seem to have overlooked.

They think that just because Trump became president due to people not showing up to the polls, that we won't do shit when they come for our hobbies.

They haven't realized that it was the hobbies and distractions that were keeping us from staying engaged in politics. If they decide to remove them, we all are gonna have more time and motivation to get back at them.

Shortsighted fools.
I am pretty sure that clown Starmer, the idiot feminists that pushed for the Steam bans and the buffoons in the EU that want to destroy encryption and implement real id on the internet are not part of anything related to Trump.

Black markets are free markets and storage is pretty cheap nowadays.

Even if they ban the visible part of the internet much of the good stuff will remain around in pirated form, locally runable LLMs will help create derivatives and so on and so forth.
The problem is, some of us(read, my living under a rock, only recently started to dive into the horny parts of the Internet ass) don't know where or how to look up free markets, or the invisible portion of the Internet.

*Shrugs helplessly*

Learn about VPNs, particularly self-hosted ones, tech in general since these feckless parasitic government boomers have the retarded idea they can ban encryption, and P2P file sharing protocols.

MFW there's a political post on QQ that I disagree with:

In a case of collateral and broken clock syndrome Trump apparently made an EO that coincidentally benefited Steam against being Censored.

Clearly was intended to protect himself from this exact thing but it could hopefully help with pushing forward actual Laws. Probably by the end of the century there might even be a singular one in the US. Maybe.

Also now the UN is backing Collective Shout, calling them "defenders of human rights".

Actually been seeing some counters to this so might have been caught up in the premature hype. It's about de-banking, don't think that impacts the payment parasites. Also have been hearing rumors that the deciding factor is a guy infamous for saying and pushing for all Porn being made Illegal.

Here's the Executive Order BTW. If'n ya want to puzzle out what any of the Legal jargon means.
Cato Institute also has a blog Post on this.

So, yeah, this may very well not be something that helps Steam (and, well, really others as well) assuming it even works the way it's being hyped up. So either still stuck at step 0 at best or have taken steps backwards at worse if it helping Steam is all hype and/or the deciding factor is another purityrannical.

Also funny enough a week or two ago someone mentioned on SV's War on Porn Thread that Visa and MasterCard started as being "that reliable payment processor that didn't ask questions for Porn". So their citing of reputational risk is in itself a risk to their own reputation if that's the case. So a bit of a funny thing to think about in a depressing way. Everything in this world seems to be built entirely around setting up backstabbing these days.

Been hearing about that one since Thursday but I have yet to find the Bill Number and Searching Congress.gov doesn't help and the Name only brings up reporting on it and only if I use the full one not the Acronym. I can only assume it's one being talked about but not properly introduced. Trying to check GovTrack but pretty much only using the number works for using that.
Also remembered something relevant to this: another problem in this is that Congress is on recess till September. Archaic calendar from back when "Government" was supposed to be your hobby not your career and all that. So there shouldn't even be Bills introduced right now.

An update on the Steam stuff with the payment parasites:
Steam now is blocking money transfers using the payment parasites from countries whose laws they have been using as a shield so they can victim blame Steam for the market control they're doing. It apparently pops up with recommending the prepaid cards to do it instead when you try. Haven't confirmed this myself with my VPN. Reminder one of Steam's founding beliefs was that the best way to defeat Piracy was by treating them as competition not as an infestation. Make a better service and even the Pirates will start recommending you.
[Edit]
Nevermind, this requires a 3 month moratorium on changing my country so can't do a VPN check.
[/Edit]

Been hearing mention of a literal shadow cabal of all things. Global Online Safety Regulators Network. So guess we know who to blame for connecting and aiding the purityrannical bullshit recently. Also just reinforces how utterly impossible keeping those conspiracy nut shadow cabals secret actually are. Also how it takes more then one of those to be able to do this shit, they just helped what was already there.

Also heads-up for the Wikipedia talk earlier: it was a lawsuit for prematurely preparing for getting Censored under OSA. Their lawsuit was denied but the judge openly admitted to agreeing with them and would have sided with them... If they were actually getting Censored. But because they're not their hands are tied because of legislative and legal stupidity (universal constant that is).

YouTube is going to be doing their "you're a child if our AI says you are" for their randomly selected test group today. Apparently you can pre-test what will be the change if you won't want to make life easier for anyone raiding Google for your data or have your identity sold by them by turning on Restricted Mode. Given from the tests I ran a lot of my news stuff and podcasts will end up being reduced so hoping this truly is a test run and by time it's fully put out the news stuff overwhelms whatever research for Fandom battles I've done and Video Games I've Watched. Heard talk about how it's the "no comments or saving because children" stuff you have to avoid so hoping that's in the minority. Assuming it doesn't auto-assignment everyone as children (which if you think about would be the only Legal way they do this without harvesting data on children which is actually Illegal but it's equally likely they just make anything they think should be for children which given how twisted and warped the US perspective on everything is... I don't trust that anymore I trust these chatbots). Although almost 100% that any damages done will be considered "acceptable losses" and all the protests are meaningless garbage no one would ever be able to notice save the ones who did it like the Clippy thing. Feels like the rise in Censorship and loss in anonymity this year is due to the ones doing it knowing that no one can do anything meaningful to resist, no real viable alternatives, and those who could resist are unwilling to do the means of doing so "because it's too inconvenient". Heard rumor they're already planning on going to start collect biometric stuff next so they have that to sell as well. The "think of the children" feels like it's being done through snickering like the phrase isn't just a defense but an actual joke to them especially as it's echoed by parents who refuse to parent. Had some thought the other day that movements like this could be used to benefit the elders that want to keep using Millennials and Gen Z as punching bags that they can keep calling children in spite of elder Millennials reaching the point they themselves could become grandparents, anything to treat them as children that are somehow responsible for everything wrong in Society. But I Know this is more being driven by the younger ones. Anyway, still have the whole thing with how this only really works if you're logged in. But so does having Playlists and Commenting. So may very well end up with my Music getting culled for being "not appropriate for kids!" (ignoring it being a Private Playlist and it's already been getting culled anyway). Wonder how long till they remove Playlists, already removed most of the other Reasons to have an Account and now making it into a security risk to possess one. Removed Emails from the Channels you're Subscribed to years back and a few months ago removed the ones for Replies to Comments.

Spotify and Nvidia also are doing Age Verification now. Not entirely sure why Nvidia thinks they need to when children aren't going there and even teenagers are unlikely to unless forced to. Nvidia also has nothing that would need restricting. One of the painfully obvious Examples that "line go up" cancer mentality is struggling and now needs to get borderline Illegal in what they can sell.

There's also that ChatControl thing of trying to go full 1984 in Europe.

...seriously, my last Post was Sunday? Days feeling like years and news flying by like it to.
