Well considering how fucked his life got he definitely qualifies for shield hero (heh)

But in all seriousness I've only seen one shield only fighter that might work for Jaune (because I can see SO many issues with trying to copy Captain America)

It was a PS2 game character and his shield doubled as a kinda chainsaw yoyo thing.

Maybe. As long as he doesn't try doing the shield throw.

His shield isn't the right shape for it, material for it, you need either super instincts or calculation ability for trajectories, plus you have to take into account materials. (Or cheat like Pyrrha with magnetism)

The bustling streets of Vale's downtown district thrummed with life, the air heavy with the scent of street food and the hum of Dust-powered neon signs. Jaune Arc, his blond hair catching the evening glow, walked stiffly beside Blake Belladonna, her amber eyes scanning the crowd with a wary edge. Blake's hand rested on his arm, her grip a touch too tight, as she leaned in.

"I don't know how you talked me into this," Jaune mumbled, "Why are we going on dates?"

"Because we need to keep up this up!" Blake hissed. "I-I don't want to let my parents down!"

"Maybe you could just tell them the truth?" Jaune asked, not unkindly. "I'm sure they'd forgive you."

Blake sighed, her ears drooping underneath her bow.

"I'm sorry, I-I just... I'm not ready to..." She shook her head. "I can't. I'm sorry."

"Blake," Jaune said with a soft murmur. He squeezed her hand compassionately.

"That said," he added, "Yang is also playing the fake fiancé thing."

"So?!" Blake demanded. "Your Nana thinks you're engaged to five girls anyway! You should at least be able to make time for me, your first fake fiancé!"

Jaune blinked slowly.

"Wait what-?!"

"JAUNE!"

Jaune turned to the voice. Out of the crowd emerged a white haired lynx Faunus man in a blue police uniform, a shield and an electroprod sword on his back. At his side was a rat Faunus woman in torn stockings, jean shorts, a black tanktop and denim jacket, smirking at them as her tail waved lightly. Jaune's eyes widened, and he grinned.

"Cousin Seth?!"

"JAUNE! HAHAHAHA!"

Seth ran up and hugged him tightly, a hug Jaune returned. The rat Faunus girl walked up, her hips swinging confidently as she spun a ring knife around her finger.

Blake blinked rapidly.

"W-Wait... You have a Faunus cousin, Jaune?!"

Jaune pulled back and grinned.

"Yeah! I mean, well, he's not blood related but he's the son of my dad's friend, and I grew up calling him Uncle! So, yeah, cousins!"

"You've gotten really tall!" Seth laughed, slapping his back, "Shield and sword too, huh?"

"Definitely!" Jaune said.

"Ahem?" The rat Faunus woman coughed. Seth winced and wrapped his arm around her waist.

"Oh! Sorry. Jaune, this is my girlfriend Jane Doe! Jane, this is Jaune, my cousin, and...?" He looked at Blake. Blake immediately clung to his arm, as Jaune coughed.

"Ah, this is Blake Belladonna. My-"

"F-Fiance!" Blake insisted. Jaune's forced smile wobbled, his blue eyes darting nervously.

"Y-Yeah, that!"

"Wow! Congratulations Jaune!" Seth called, his voice bright as he adjusted his Public Security badge, his scarf fluttering. "Didn't expect to see you and your fiancée out here!" His yellow eyes sparkled with genuine delight, fully buying Blake's act. "Man, you're already getting hitched? Uncle Nick must be over the moon!"

Jaune's face flushed, his voice cracking. "Uh, y-yeah, Seth, it's… a thing." He shot Blake a pleading look, but she just squeezed his arm, her bow twitching as she doubled down.

"Indeed," Blake said, her voice smooth but strained, her tail flicking under her coat. "Jaune and I are… very committed. Right, darling?"

"Darling?!" Jaune squeaked, his blush deepening as Seth beamed.

Jane, her rat-like tail swaying, leaned against Seth with a smirk that could cut glass. "Oh, darling, is it? How adorable." Her voice dripped with mock sweetness, her green eyes glinting as she twirled a lock of dark hair. "You two are just the picture of wedded bliss. When's the big day? Got a venue picked out? Or are we still… pretending for the cameras?"

Blake's eyes narrowed, her ears pinning back under her bow. "It's not a pretense," she said, her tone sharp. "Jaune and I are—"

"Totally in love, yeah, yeah," Jane interrupted, waving a hand, her grin wicked. "I mean, look at you, clinging to him like he's your lifeline. And Jaune, that nervous sweat? Pure romance. Bet you're already picking out baby names."

Jaune's voice hit a new octave. "B-Baby names?! We're not—!"

"Jane, c'mon, don't tease 'em," Seth said, his tail flicking as he nudged her. "They're engaged! It's serious! Right, Jaune? You're gonna make Blake an Arc, keep the family legacy goin'!" His earnestness was almost painful, his belief in the ruse unshakable.

Blake's cheeks flushed, her voice faltering. "Y-Yes, exactly. The… Arc legacy."

Jane's laugh was a low purr, her eyes locked on Blake. "Oh, kitty, you're good. But you're gonna have to sell it better than that if you want to fool me." She leaned closer, her voice dropping. "What's the real deal? Dodging an ex? Covering for some White Fang shenanigans? Or just messing with poor Jaune for kicks?"

Blake's tail lashed, her voice a hiss. "There's no 'real deal.' We're engaged, and that's that."

"Sure, sure," Jane said, winking at Jaune, who looked ready to bolt. "And I'm the Queen of Menagerie. Tell you what, 'fiancé,' let's see a kiss. Seal the deal right here, in front of your cousin and me."

Jaune's eyes widened, his face a beacon of red. "A k-kiss?!"

Blake froze, her ears twitching violently. "That's… not necessary—"

"Oh, c'mon!" Seth urged, clapping Jaune on the back, his tail swishing. "Give her a smooch, cousin! Show us that Arc charm!"

Jane cackled, her grin feral. "Yeah, go on, Blake. Pucker up. Unless… you're not actually engaged?" Her eyebrow arched, daring them to crack.

Jaune and Blake exchanged a panicked glance, the weight of the charade crushing them. Blake's jaw tightened, her voice barely audible. "Fine." She grabbed Jaune's collar, yanked him down, and pressed a quick, stiff peck to his lips before pulling back, her face scarlet.

Jaune stood frozen, his brain short-circuiting, while Seth whooped, "That's my cousin!" Jane's laughter rang out, sharp and knowing, as she clapped slowly.

"Wow, such passion," Jane teased, her tail flicking. "I'm swooning. You two are gonna have the most convincing wedding ever."

Blake glared, her voice low. "Enough, Jane."

"Aw, don't be mad, kitty," Jane said, looping her arm through Seth's. "I'm just havin' fun. You keep up your little game, and I'll keep my mouth shut… for now." She winked, tugging Seth along. "C'mon, babe, let's leave the lovebirds to their… engagement."

Seth grinned, waving as they walked off. "Congrats again, Jaune! Blake, welcome to the family!"

As they vanished into the crowd, Jaune slumped, his voice a groan. "Blake, why are we still doing this?!"

Blake's ears drooped, her voice soft but stubborn. "It's… complicated, okay? Just… play along a bit longer."

Jaune sighed, rubbing his temples, while Yang's voice echoed in his mind from a poker night long ago, warning him about Blake's schemes. "This is gonna end in disaster, isn't it?"

Blake's gaze softened, a flicker of guilt in her eyes. "Maybe… but thanks, Jaune. For sticking with me."

He managed a tired grin, his voice wry. "Yeah, well, what's family for?"

For those of you with a military background, what would a major military base on Remnant look like? As an example. I created Fort Celliwig (named for a Welsh name for Camelot) and Port Sidhe (after the Celtic God of Wind) as two military bases around Vale Capital.

Fort Celliwig would be a joint air/army based for the Valean Defense Force, with army and air units.

Port Sidhe would be more focused on the air navy, with docking facilities for airships like the Banshee-class air carriers, destroyers, frigates, support ships, along with air units and the equivalent of Marines.

Both bases would have Hunter facilities as well, who would be more loosely integrated into the command structure but would operate as specialists and special forces.

Hey had an idea for a potential bit of comedy involving Maine since we know he has parents and siblings.

Going with a slightly later start, Jaune had just turned 18 and his friends at Beacon want to celebrate. Only to learn that he is engaged.

And engaged.

And did I mention engaged? Or the other engagements he has?

Yeah, turns out that all but his father made engagement deals involving Jaune. If the Arc Clan is involved, Aqua did about 4 of them alone. Making it more 'exciting' all of the girls are not.from RWBY but other franchises like ZZZ or anime.

And Jaune happens to know them all already.

V3 in reality Adam couped Khan before the Vytal Festival and her parents save Meregenerie from the radicals as the other dark maidens with there own Grimm parasites controled groups of Grimm to get in position to attack Vale, with Watts back doors and false signals the main Vale forces were in disarray as the Grimm attack only destroyed a fourth of Vale and killed alot of people and beacon was attacked by Adam

V4 Yang joined RNJR in helping clean out Vale and then going on to assist villages between Vale and Haven because of the Negativity along side other teams some of which would die helping people - Yang joing Ruby and Jaune in a cuddle session that lead to a 3way

V5 Ren got his revenge and knocked Nora up in the Hostal as Qrow found out about errors in the Minstral Stytle {Watts] that Leo Told him about along with a gangwar happening that depleted his loyal allies with most now protectiing key towns around the main city or stuck on long guard duty shifrs and exhausted
Adam does attack but MR Belladona had planned on it and with Minstral Councel prepared an Ambush - Sun and Blake joined in and learned about the Salem fight later

V6 Weiss has joined Yang, Ruby and Jaune as in bed, Yang is pregnant, the Train attack exposes Adam who is then killed by the Grimm attacking the train, they make it to Argus no issue and meet Maria by accident and Saph and Terra love calling Yang Ruby and Weiss sisters and Ren and Nora plan there wedding - also Oscar is there

V7 Blake keeps trying to connect with the now off duty Yang MEanwhile Ruby Jaune and Ironwood are feed up with Oz-car and use the lamp to learn EVERYTHING about Salem FORCES learning of the dark maidens Watss being alive Tyrian being a serial killer in Mantle and Hazel being suicidal along with how Emerald and Mercury want to defect
and plan to pickthem off one by one and succeed as RWBY and JNR talk with the Happy Huntress

V8 Blake is spending more time with her team as they plan Nora and Ren wedding along with celabrate Gele arrest and Whitley is dating Penny as Salem attacks are all predicted and counters leaving her only a single hound and the whale after the fly into the clouds and bomb them strategy works wonders on ground forces by the fliers tear up the Atlas forces leaving them to pull a death star run on the whale were Ace Ops loses a member and NEO being a wild card that like the show does everything! wounding Winter Maiden stealing the lamp and ambusing the exhusted team RWBY on the bridge Penney 'died' a robot but her parts fell

V9 Team RWBY meet a Rusted Knight Jaune in an eldritch world were the Goddess is both the Mother of the Brothers but also the 'Animal God' that created the Faunus, Gifting RUBY and JAUNE magic gear to kill both Salem and send her the Blacksmith - Neo is eaten by the Jabberwalker the SON OF A GOD IS A DEMIGOD, Cat just a cunt not Evil and Alyx just an overprotective big sister to Louise who is too trusting in a death world then a Eldritch World

You could live your entire life never leaving the base without many issues.

Didn't grow up military but I currently work on an Air Force Base.
Military bases are effectively tiny towns. You have housing on base, a couple of restaurants( we even have a food court) a commissary which is basically a general store, a hospital, a gas station, and even a library and bowling alley. You could live your entire life never leaving the base without many issues.
The only things missing are schools and that's because we are in a fairly populated area with plenty of local schools. Bases in foreign countries typically have some designs for schooling if children are allowed on base.

Alright, time to continue. So first you need to decide where the bases are. As in are the inside or outside of Vale. If they are outside of Vale, it will be essentially a small town. Complete with everything I described above. Normally military bases cause a proper city to spring up around them, but since Remnant is a death world, the city would likely be within the Walls of the base. Sheer safety would make it one of the most sought after places in Vale short of the capital itself.
You'd also see much more effort to make the base self sufficient. Since you never know when a swarm of Grimm will make resupply difficult.
On the other hand if they are inside the city walls then most of what I said won't apply. You'd get the basic stuff I mentioned above, but most of the fancier less important amenities would be outside the base in the city. The biggest thing you'd notice is first, the army base will likely be in the wealthier area of Vale. Because in this world having your house next to the military base means you don't have to worry about Grimm as much.
The biggest change from a base in our world would be accomodations. Both bases would have plenty of bunkers designed for long term survival. Things out of the cold war. Because the bases would be the last line of defense against any Grimm incursion. Complete with plans to evacuate the residents of Vale to the bases if needed.
