I'll be honest, these feel like an introduction in metal gear solid.

Universal agents Jaune and Pyrrha and their hilarious adventures.

So I was just finishing Roommates from StoryLoverVen and he mentioned his next project, which got me thinking about a yt video I watched ages ago. I think this is a fairly good personality for Ciel. Although maybe she should be a little more adaptable. Very socially awkward and has a tendency to infodump. As one of the comments put it.
People focus so much on her negative rizz that I rarely see someone commenting on the fact that, none of this comes out of the top of her head. At all. She studied that shit for hours on end fully convinced that a marine biology filibuster would make her unfathomably attractive to any man.
@Sift Green You asked once about Ciel's personality, I think this might be a funny and unfortunate place to start. Just with watches and timepieces of every description.

Universal agents Jaune and Pyrrha and their hilarious adventures.
agents_arc_nikos_by_creator5240_dn9acaf-pre.jpg
Agents Jaune and Pyrrha come across a universe that is starting to become like canon. Pyrrha makes the decision they need to get Yang Ruby and Weiss with Jaune to save this world. How will they do this when team RWBY is split up. Jaune meanwhile has to help his other self come to terms with Pyrrha's death.

Pulling this off one of JC's videos about how it should have been Jaune instead of Pyrrha being killed. Mostly because I think there are some fun things to explore in it.

"For context, I did watch the entire video.

I cannot find anything to really disagree with and these are excellent critiques and ideas.

That SAID...

I am still in the camp that NEITHER ONE has to die here. The only reason they killed Pyrrha is because of the inside joke of her name and a Pyrrhic Victory. That and for angst porn. They intentionally did it because they had no idea where to take the story after Monty's death so they resorted to the cheapest writer trick possible and yank on people's feelings.

There's a reason Pyrrha is the new face of 'Women in Refrigerators' or 'Women Fridged' after the trope herself.

After Monty's death there's still the whole post where they claim they wanted to make the series 'darker and grittier'. This fell flat on its face and about the darkest you get is some Tyrian action and the Farm Arc.

Even the entire scene of Atlas civilians running screaming during the Grimm invasion is undercut by our heroes.... sealing themselves inside the Schnee mansion like a bunch of rich people in a panic room and calmly drinking tea while the world literally falls apart underneath them letting random soldiers die in their stead instead of BEING BIG DAMN HEROES.

The threat has to invade their panic room and threaten them directly to get them off their asses.

To rewind that back to my point, these people have no idea what constitutes military action and the fall of Beacon is in no way shape or form a 'victory' for them. In the afterward of Vol 9 we learn that Vale as a whole has fallen similar to Atlas. Nether of the two kingdoms exist anymore because everyone important in Vale came to Vacuo.

Thus the inside joke for Pyrrha doesn't make any sense.

As other people have pointed out, the last thing people saw before all communication was cut, was Pyrrha 'killing' Penny and a voiceover accusing the Huntsmen Academies of training child soldiers against infiltrator super weapons. Cinder did that to leave a lasting impression.

Pyrrha now has to deal with this slander as a permanent change and she'd be in no mental shape to do it. She always wanted to shed the burden of being a celebrity but now she has to deal with being the single most hated person on Remnant. Now she's striving to do good but getting nothing for it. Her agent manages to get in contact with her to let her know she's too radioactive and she's being dropped. People who once praised her now scorn her. She's now struggling to redeem her image. She's also having to undergo some physical therapy because of the tendon and she's just not as good as she used to be. Aura is amazing but there's still some physical limitations. Her leg is crippling her. And she doesn't get a cool mechanical replacement since it's still a perfectly serviceable leg for walking.

Jaune for his part? While this is going on with Pyrrha, this is his chance to show a bit of growth we've wanted to see from him. He's survived a history defining event. He's no longer the buttmonkey. He can't afford being that naive wide-eyed child anymore. He's a true veteran now. He sees what's going on with Pyrrha and this is his chance to be the hero he's wanted to be. Starting with saving his other best friend. Showing her how to survive being a failure like him. Standing next to her even as she's accused of being 'The Doom of Remnant'. Doing what's Right instead of what's Easy.

And that's what Joan of Arc was burned at the stake for. She did what was Right instead of what was Easy and a corrupt and morally bankrupt aristocracy had her put to death for it.

As for Pyrrha? Achilles found his death in battle that he craved. For Pyrrha, this is the metaphorical 'death' of who she is and now she's in Dante's Inferno. Jaune for his part serves as her guide even as he burns beside her.

Greeks are always escaping the afterlife of Hades by 'the actions of a true hero' and Joan was acquitted of her crimes and canonized as a Saint after her death. This 'rebirth' for these two towards the end completes their cycle.

And as an 'Arkos or Bust' person? No reason that rebirth doesn't include a new legacy. : 3

This 'we're killing Pyrrha' reeks of mid-2000's edgelord trying to be a 90s era gritdark story desperation when RWBY is supposed to be a fun adventure/comedy show. We didn't even get a chance to really come to terms with Ozpin's death and he pulls a Slim Shady "GUESS WHO'S BACK? BACK AGAIN!"

Looking back on this, it says a lot of interesting things about where I'd take Pyrrha beyond a personal crisis about getting back in the saddle as a Huntress and/or a competitive fighter. A struggle to win back public trust in her. Not to the obscene degree of being a celebrity in a controlled environment. She's had enough of that.

It would also be a fun way to explore a metaphorical death beyond a literal one. You hear so much about Teenagers wailing about how 'their life is so over!' after some minor drama. Pyrrha's story (and by extention Team RWBY as a whole) learning to pick themselves up after a failure instead of locking themselves in a panic room agonizing over tea and asking 'where did it all go wrong' before drinking some MAGICAL tea and to ride the self termination express to via Author Fiat that 'you're perfect just the way you are' and learn nothing.

I don't agree with everything, but I agree with SO MUCH of the above. Fun way to do it? Have Pyrrha hurt and Jaune awakens his semblance THERE. Cue Pyrrha going Magneto and bending Cinder's blood.

Personally, I agree that neither Jaune nor Pyrrha needed to die, and my reasoning has very little to do with Arkos. I just think Pyrrha's death was poorly handled and, honestly, rather pointless. The more I compare it to other fictional sacrifices, the less I think it works.

A big example for me is Dinobot from Transformers: Beast Wars. His sacrifice, particularly in Code of Hero, works because it's the culmination of his character development. He makes a conscious decision to stand against impossible odds because he believes it's the right thing to do. His actions have a tangible impact, he protects something important, and his death means something beyond simply making the audience sad. It's the conclusion of his personal journey and everything he stands for.

I don't get that same feeling from Pyrrha. To me, her death feels much more like the writers decided someone needed to die for the sake of tragedy and then built the situation around making it happen. There are several reasons why I feel this way:

  1. Her death doesn't accomplish enough. Pyrrha goes after Cinder, despite being completely outmatched, and ultimately fails to stop her. I understand that she wanted to do the right thing, but what does her sacrifice actually achieve? It doesn't save Beacon, stop Cinder, or prevent the disaster that follows.
  2. Her final decision makes her look foolish rather than heroic. Pyrrha is supposed to be one of the most talented Huntresses of her generation. She's an experienced fighter who understands the dangers she's facing. Yet she ends up confronting an opponent who has powers far beyond anything she can realistically handle, without a plan that gives her a reasonable chance of succeeding. There's a difference between being brave and throwing your life away.
  3. The destruction of Beacon was already a major tragedy. An entire city was plunged into chaos, the academy fell, people were killed, and the consequences affected the entire kingdom. There was already more than enough happening to establish that things had gone horribly wrong. I don't understand why the story also needed to kill one of its established characters to prove that the situation was serious.
  4. Her death removes potential character development. There was so much more that could have been explored with Pyrrha after Beacon. Her reputation, her identity as a champion, her expectations of herself, and her relationship with being a Huntress could all have been challenged. Having her survive and deal with the consequences of failure could have been just as emotionally compelling, if not more so.
  5. The tragedy feels more important than the actual character decision. With Dinobot, his death is the result of a choice that defines him. With Pyrrha, I feel like the story wanted the emotional impact of killing her more than it wanted to explore what that decision meant for her character.
And that's really my biggest problem with it. I don't think killing characters automatically makes a story darker, more mature, or more meaningful. Sometimes keeping a character alive and forcing them to deal with the consequences of what happened can provide far more interesting storytelling.

I also think people sometimes confuse a character dying tragically with a character making a meaningful sacrifice. Those aren't necessarily the same thing.

As for the argument that Jaune should have died instead, I don't think that necessarily works either. In fact, looking at the alternative GraveyardShift describes, I think killing Jaune would remove a lot of the potential that makes that scenario interesting.

  1. It would cut off Jaune's opportunity for meaningful character development. Surviving the fall of Beacon could be the moment that finally pushes Jaune beyond being the inexperienced, sometimes comedic student he was at the beginning. He's survived a history-defining disaster, and he now has to grow up and become the Huntsman he always wanted to be. Killing him at that point would mean throwing away the opportunity to explore that transition.
  2. It removes the possibility of Jaune helping Pyrrha through her own failure. One of the more interesting ideas in GraveyardShift's alternative is that Pyrrha could survive Beacon only to have her reputation destroyed. Instead of being Remnant's beloved champion, she becomes the person many people blame for Penny's apparent death and the fall of Beacon. Jaune, who has experienced failure and knows what it's like to be considered inadequate, could help her navigate that situation. He wouldn't magically fix everything, but he could stand beside her when practically everyone else has turned against her.
  3. It takes away an opportunity to reverse their original character dynamic. Initially, Pyrrha was the accomplished fighter helping Jaune become a better Huntsman. After Beacon, that dynamic could change. Pyrrha might be the one who needs help, while Jaune has to become strong enough, emotionally and physically, to support her. That's a considerably more interesting direction than simply killing one of them for shock value.
  4. Jaune's survival could give his character a more meaningful purpose. Rather than remaining the inexperienced student who needs saving, he gets the opportunity to become the person who saves someone else. He can finally demonstrate what being a Huntsman means to him, not just through fighting, but through standing by someone when doing so is difficult.
  5. It would undermine the potential for both characters to rebuild themselves. Pyrrha could experience a metaphorical death: losing the identity, reputation, and life she had before Beacon. Jaune could serve as someone who helps her find a way forward, while undergoing his own transformation. Their stories could complement each other without either needing to die.
And that's why I don't think simply swapping their deaths is the solution. You'd still be killing a character who has plenty of room to develop, just for the sake of creating a different tragedy. The more interesting option, in my opinion, is to let both of them survive and explore what happens afterwards.

My problem isn't that Pyrrha died instead of Jaune, or that Arkos was cut short. My problem is that I don't think either of them needed to die in the first place. Beacon's fall was already a massive disaster, and there were plenty of ways to explore its consequences without killing Pyrrha or Jaune.

As things stand, I feel their deaths would sacrifice two characters with considerable potential for an emotional moment that ultimately didn't need to happen.

I work tonight but I'm off tomorrow. I think it's about time I did a full-on military breakdown of the Fall of Beacon/Vale and why Pyrrha dying is bullshit all because they wanted to giggle at her name.

This is part of why I've done so much work to give Vale an actual military. It's ridiculous the two richest Kingdoms wouldn't have powerful militaries. It also adds to the tragedy and makes Cinder and Salem's plan more... Coherent, I suppose, if part of the cover is starting a war between Atlas and Vale.

I once had a writing project titled, On The Run.

In it, Ruby wakes up from her coma in volume 3 to the news that Yang was arrested and jailed for her part in cinders plot, even though Yang was a victim. Mostly because they were just arresting anybody they had a face and name for. They'd sort the details later.

A week later, Yang shows up at the cabin. Turns out Jaune broke both her and Pyrrha out with Ren and Nora.

While Yang came to say her goodbyes to Ruby, Ruby instead joins them.

Thus following the tale of RWBY and gang as wanted felons in connection to the fall of Beacon. Implicated in Cinders plot by virtue of two of them being named by Cinder when she stirred the pot, Blake for being a white fang insider (and Ozpin too dead to counter that story,) and the rest of them for jail breaking suspected criminals and aiding and abetting.

So not only are they fighting Salem and the forces of Darkness, they were trying to clear their names as well.

The muse woke up and chose evil one day making me consider as the story went on, they would steadily lose hope and start indulging in illicit substances as an extra hurtle. Dealing with despair and addiction as they navigate Remnants underworld.

She survives in all my works because im not an emo edgelord who thinks myself soooo clever at foreshadowing her death through a Barbra level pun at her name.

Yes she's in my strike zone as ideal waifu so I will admit to bias. But everything around her still holds true.

If im going to kill her, I will demonstrate how to do it RIGHT and everyone will dehydrate and die to the tears being shed. *maniacal evil villain laugh*

Thats fair but if you are going to have her become a criminal then you should have a b plot of Atlas and Mistral readying to war. As pyrrha is a four time tournament champion so should would be a major celebrity and you have Atlas declaring she is a crimal with no proof as i say the Cnet is still when they rescue Yang.
and one of the last things people would have heard and survivors seen is altas robots and ships attacking vale

Oh you think I'm stopping THERE?

Remember that part of Salem's grand plan and therefore Cinders mandate is to cause as much division and Chaos as possible. That means that Great War 2: Great Boogaloo is going to be a 4 way free for all.

Mitral and Vale throwing shade at each other over Yang and Mercury since Mercury is a supposedly stand up Haven student. Atlas and Mistral throwing shade at each other over Pyrrha and Penny. One for not disclosing her semblance that could cause that kind of damage and the other being an artificial lifeform framed as an infiltration.

So Pyrrha and Yang are being held while they sort this out as Cinder and Co get further and further away. The very people that could clear up this nonsense and everyone is wasting time on the wrong huntresses.

Weiss did not expect to fall in love with Jaune. Differently not listening to him singing old songs about his family and their history. But she did and she can't get enough.

Dad Jokes New
Nick clapped his hands once, drawing every eye in the room. "All right, kids… time to show you my Semblance!"

The reaction was immediate and theatrical. Jaune's mouth dropped open. Nora's did too, a sharp intake of breath that she deliberately turned into words. Ren's brows lifted a fraction. Blake's ears flicked. Pyrrha's eyes went wide. Ruby's whole face lit up.

"GASP!" Ruby declared.

"GASP!" Nora echoed at the same volume.

Weiss turned slowly. "…Did you and Nora just say 'gasp' out loud?"

"YES!" they answered in perfect unison.

Nick raised a finger, solemn. "You see… it's quite simple. But you must never tell anyone. It's a secret."

A few of them mimed zipping their mouths. Nora even added a little zip sound for emphasis.

"Okay," Nick said, drawing the moment out. "My Semblance is…!"

He held up one hand, did the classic thumb-between-fingers trick, and waggled the apparently detached digit. "Ooooh~!"

Jaune's shoulders dropped. "…Seriously, Dad?"

"How do I doooo it~?" Nick asked, already reaching past Weiss. He produced a lien coin from behind her ear with a flourish. Weiss jerked back, one hand flying to the side of her head.

"What the—?"

Yang snorted. "Ha! I guess that's where your money comes from."

Nick wasn't finished. He produced a pencil, pinched it between thumb and forefinger, and gave it a wobbly shake. "And… BEHOLD! This pencil! It's like it's made of rubbberrrr!"

Pyrrha covered her mouth, shoulders shaking. Nora was actively fighting not to laugh and losing. Jaune dragged a hand down his face. "Ugh… Dad!"

Nick spread his arms, perfectly content. "What? Who doesn't enjoy a good dad joke?"

Yang's mouth twitched. "Heh…"

Pyrrha, Yang, Weiss and Ruby stick close to Jaune's mom and sisters during break. They want to learn everything they can to get Jaune. They never expected they would be setup for the Harem ending.

Glynda's Beacon Team New
I did have a rough idea for Glynda's old Beacon team:

The theme would have been 1930s movies, since Glynda is a reference to Wizard of Oz.

Franky: A tall guy, an early cyborg, reference to Frankenstein. He was horribly injured in an accident but his father rebuilt him with electrodes in his neck. despite his frightening appearance he's actually a softy who loves cute things. His Semblance is somewhat similar to Nora's, Electrical Discharge. He can use it to boost his strength. Difference is, he needs Lightning Dust to live.

Mary Kong: She is a slight red headed girl, a stage performer and a bit of a brat. Her Semblance is to summon the equivalent of a Stand in the form of a giant Gorilla-A reference to King Kong.

And Charlie: He's an odd little guy, quiet, walks around funny with an umbrella and a bowler hat. A down on his luck guy from the streets. His Semblance is Air control and he can float on his umbrella and control the wind. He's basically Charlie Chaplin mixed with Aang.
