In the World of 2138, the destruction of the environment had continued at ever-increasing speed to the point where the surface of the Earth was hopelessly polluted; gorgeous nature existed only in video games and pictures.

The sky was always hidden behind the
black smog, while the sun making only brief appearances every now and then.

Thick, toxic fog frequently covered the cities, so almost no one went out without wearing a gas mask beforehand.

With nature almost completely destroyed, it was highly implied by the governments that people have no other choice but to also rely on artificial lungs solely created for their safety to help breath in the current, poor state of the environment.

Since the plants that would have converted carbon dioxide to oxygen and absorbed nitrogen oxide had all withered due to the death of the sun, the atmospheric pollution only worsened.

As the number of plants decreased, the populations of birds and insects that ate their leaves and fruit dropped.

Of course, the pollution extended to the water as well as all the rivers which led to it changing into horrible colours and becoming murky.

The pollution was so bad that water purification systems ceased to function, so even tap water had to be passed through a filter before it could be drunk.

Furthermore, during wet weather, the people noted the rain was considered to be acidic and foul-smelling in the current era.

Citizens vividly recalled how very bad the weather was in the World of 2138. They described such weather phenomena to be in the berserk form of a torrential acid rainstorm which filled every person’s vision upon catching sight of it happening before their eyes.

The practice of traditional farming, which depended on rainwater and sunlight, declined, and all vegetables and grains were cultivated in domes. The price of food inevitably soared, and raw fruits and vegetables became luxury goods that ordinary people couldn't get their hands on.

But the important question is...

How did it all come to this?

Long story short.

It's because of the Voracious Greed of humanity and their usage of Fossil fuel throughout the years.

Technology continues to improve and change day by day, investing to improve one's luxuries to ease their lifestyles.

The more advance technology is.

Faster climate change would occur.

There can be various reasons why humanity improves their technology and usage of fossil fuels.

It could be entertainment.

Human Greed.

Human Survival.

Or even the improvement of humanity.

Whatever the reason is.

No matter how Saint or Malevolent the person's intentions are.

The outcome is nonetheless the same.

Because humanity's only Access towards energy source; aka as fossil fuel dwindles as humanity continues to leech-like a parasite.

Siphoning their Non-Renewable energy resource.
Naturally... A World Wide resource war inevitably broke out.

That means Army, Aircraft, Navy... even nukes were used in the said conflict.

In a nuclear war, specialists estimated that only four hundred million will die…

But that calculation is wrong.

Seven hundred and twenty million will die from the explosions itself and another two and a half billion in the next ten years, from hunger, diseases, chaos, and local conflict.

In a nuclear war, seven hundred twenty million will die on the first day,

USA, Russia, China, India, Israel, Japan, Germany, Great Britain, France, Pakistan, Philippines... and the list go on and on and on.

Only forty-eight countries will become priority targets for nuclear strikes.

But absolutely all countries will suffer.

In sixty-eight countries, the overthrowing of its government will occur in the first year.

Another forty - five years.

No government could retain their full control of their own country.

One hundred and fifteen new countries will be formed.

Of these, eighty-four will collapse in the next twenty years.

Another seventy-four wars will take place, from global to the local scale, in the next hundred years.

As a result, the population will only regain its original number of the population before the nuclear attacks of seven and a half billion people in sixty-five years.

Several manor events still happened like Climate change and Mass extinction of wildlife and all that but...

The result is still the same.

Earth is poisoned.

Humanity is devastated.

Governments are powerless.

Resources are in an all-an time low.

Society almost collapses several times.

Environmental damages are irreparable and inhospitable.

And last but not least, food is hard to come by, forcing humanity to use "Nutritional" Diet liquid.

Still... even if the humans slowly recover.

It is inevitable that humanity would fall.

Not with a bang like they expected in the past.

But with a whisper, as they die in disease or hunger.

In his early years in the past, Demiurge is a successful student who wishes to become a Doctor or Businessman with a promising future due to his great Financial Aptitude and Proficiency.

He paved his way up, Stressing himself as he crammed the knowledge inside his head.

Understanding in and out how the world and money works.

He learned how to control his emotions at the early age of 12 years old so he could think more carefully.

He lives a successful life with stable income and major assets with little to no liability.

And died alone without leaving an heir.

In his life, he realized that he died full of regrets.
He felt empty despite the Wealth and Fame he garnered throughout his life.

If you ask him if he had any friends console him then his answer is "No".

Of course in his life, there were many people that are significant to him.

His father, that gave him his ideals of a businessman. His school friends, then later his colleagues, allies... But in the end, these people would simply pass him by.

A friend today is only an acquaintance tomorrow, a week later a random face in the crowd, and a month later an enemy on the other side of the field.

Demiurge learned this the hard way.

He learned how the dark society works.

How business work.

How humans work.

Fact is, people just love being told they're right.

Continuously nodding to their words, accepting their decisions as truth, people love it, and in turn, they love those who agree with them.

Of course, being a yes-man doesn't make one trusted.

One needs to agree and pipe in their own opinion.
In that way, the other one understands that he is agreeing, but not just simply out of awe -he is actually thinking just like him, which makes him similar to him, which again means they should be friendlier with someone who is so similar to them.

Opposites attract is just a silly thing invented by someone that didn't understand the finest concepts of survival in a group.

Those who are similar, and willing to forgo their own ego in favour of the ego of the group, those are the people others are naturally attracted to.

Everyone wants to be a leader of men, a ruler of subordinates, a conqueror that holds the sway of the masses.

The problem is that there are sycophants and betrayers in the midst.

And the best betrayers are those you have called your friends until your very last breath.

Demiurge learned this the hard way.

And his sense of trust was now blurred turning
Him Sociopathic, Cynical and Bitter.

But in the end, he died with unsure regret.

In all honesty, he prefers being alone.

He has a solid foundation and knowledge.

He was envied by ladies and gentlemen.

So what did he regret?

What was the cause of his emptiness?

What's making him sour despite his success?
Honestly... he wasn't sure either...

And during his death.
He expects eternal darkness or perhaps a short lucid dream.

Not reincarnation.

He reincarnated in the world of 2138 from Overlord as a third son in the upper class of society.
