What are your most hated fanfic tropes

The whole Ankoman thing reminds me of when Orangemaru made that Gilgamesh NTRing Mash away and the sheer amount of hate and visceral reaction it got from seemingly everyone. Like even to this day sometimes I see some artist out a character in Mash's outfit from that doujin and you see people going "no, no, no" and "fuck you you bastard". It's like any sort of NTR just breaks people's brains for some reason. I'm not a fan of the tropes specifically and ones that lean too heavily into the whole "I'm stealing her away from you" and focusing on the person being cucked aren't enjoyable at all to me, you'd think Ankoman and other NTRtists walked into their house, shot their dogs, then raped their IRL wives. Like calm the fuck down, guys.

As an aside, I do read fics/doujins with NTR in them, as it happens that some of my favorite things, mind break through pleasure, fantasy drug/aphrodisiac play, corruption, the woman just really really enjoying herself, etc., happen to be very common in the NTR genre. Honestly wish more would do their works without the focus on the cuck, but it is what it is so long as it isn't too heavy

Orangemaru's case was especially bad since people saw it as a betrayal of their earlier works, which didn't feature any NTR.

The backlash was big enough that they stopped doing FGO content, from what I can recall, and focused on drawing vanilla Idolmaster stuff.

So it kinda is a mix of whether the artist has a reputation as an NTR artist and how popular a fandom is.

Despite Worm fans claiming not to care about Wildbow's WOG, they still fall for the propaganda about how Taylor is the most important person in the universe and things need to happen to beat Scion.

I really hate it when the MC in a setting that doesn't have reincarnation tells others that s/he is a reincarnate. That they know the future. It breaks my immersion every single time. I've had it happen twice in the last 2 months now.

Certain settings can get away with it, but those usually have some form of precedent. In the harder sci-fi stories, it's a complete interest killer.

What really grinds my gears is when one of the fanfic's main purposes for its creation is CHARACTER BASHING!

Like, bro. I don't come to your stories, only to get a pie to the face as you BASH, BASH, DOUBLE BASH a character or a few more to the point the main plot being intended for them gets derailed harder than a rock!

You hate this character? Fine, be my guest! Just don't let that thing grow into an obsession so extreme that you'll ended up overshadowing your plots, your masterpieces, your characters, YOUR DREAM OF WRITING A GOOD STORY, just to satiate it.

Sadly, I've read more fics than I'd like to where the entire point of the story was to bash and write said character completely OOC just to satisfy the author.

I've seen plenty of stories where the MC outgrows the bashed character, and the author needs to justify a power up just to keep bashing them.

If I didn't know any better, I'd think they were in love with them.

Especially some of the Hazbinverse fics. Like, seriously! The last time I ever come across a multiple-character bashing so extreme from that fandom, it was in that crossover with MHA on AO3 in which Adam ends up having a new life in that world and become a priest-king of sort of an island of Quirkless, those with mutant quirks and so forth.

Not only was the main characters' victory over the Exorcists get absolutely subverted and deconstructed greatly, but in the Helluva side, most of the characters there got murdered HARD by Cain himself in what can only described as the most detailed and hate-fueled recreations of every horror movie gorefest to ever graced the internet. (The fact that the author wrote the aftermaths detailedly like he's writing an academic essay really goes to show that the entire fic is, up til that point, a stealth bashing fic.)

That was the last time I ever blindly hop throughout AO3 and pic whatever fics that seems good based solely on the outside.
