Always happy that people are advancing science.

    The Indigo Tribesman Paul encountered.

Only a little while on a planet and people go crazy.

    Alien kung fu monks.

    'struggle to'

He's lucky that he's very durable, so he can survive large falls.

I'm getting a strong feeling that Dream of the Endless somehow inspired this thing like he inspired and helped Shakespeare.

It probably was horrifying reading about what the Reach do.

    'died, I forced'

    Smart.

Time to see what shenanigans Paul can create now.

Yes, I rather expect it would wear thin after eight hundred years. Well, I assume karaxians are at least as long-lived as humans, if not more. So the monks have probably heard many, many variations on it...

:D A little on the nose, really. Talk about Sigil Spam, huh? These guys probably give COBRA, VIPER or Hydra a run for their money... Still, at least it's a nice shade of green.

Not really an answer, but I suppose it could go either way... Presumably they'd prefer the temple, to allow fellow worshippers a chance to pay homage. I don't remember the Oan crypts being very accessible to Non-Lanterns...

I wonder what the karaxian faith makes of the fact four currently-serving lanterns all come from the same world in a single sector? Do they consider Earth particularly blessed by the Light? Wonder if Earthly science (besides the schizo-tech stuff) would even pick up anything from a Lantern's corpse?

Heh. And even if it gets trashed, he has a spare ready. Upside of being the Ophidian's rebound after Larfleeze. :p

I wonder if any temple has a symbol of a triangle with seven radiating lines? Though I'd be worried if it were only five... Good to see they unknowingly respect the whole spectrum, though.

Is their site being DDOS'd through sheer interest? o_O Wow. Still, I suppose when the Illustres of the second known Lantern Corps shows up on planet, things might get crazy online...

Heh. I find it amusing OL is basically killing their internet via social media. Imagine the arguments that'll break out when he does post his stuff. #Therearesevencolours! and #ManyUniverses are probably going to be big soon...

And every server he uploads it to promptly goes down as people hear about it... Heh, he may be able to crash their internet through popularity alone...

At least they have safety shutdown settings for when one goes too far. I could imagine someone going far enough to suffer permanent damage without it.

Not yet. That's why OL is here, after all. Though I expect the Orange version will be somewhat less intense than OL's experience.

And Jordan did that? I find myself doubting he bothered with much preparation...

Heh, after drinking from the figurative firehose, the ritual probably felt like a squirt gun. As for Jordan, he seems to get by on sheer bullheadedness.

Yeah, something like that... Much like OL's experience, I don't think most Lanterns are quite up to that.

A sensible method. After all, we've seen what happens when someone lives with one light more than any other. The Guardians and Controllers, Larfleeze, OL himself... There's definitely a shift in self involved...

x3 Daaaaw. Young love. Hope he didn't do too much damage to the floor.

Planning to make all of them drop their focus, OL? Kind of a test?

I mean... Don't be too surprised by what colours you see, though. Because you're coming across a little oddly flirty there.

And now I find myself wondering how he'd do with a proper Indigo ring. Not the 'overwhelming saturation' kind The Indigo tribe currently use, but a balanced model...

To be fair, the War is kind of all-encompassing in his life right now. Especially as one of the special forces troops fighting it.

Not much space to spread out, huh? But dropping to the ground would probably make her more annoyed than smacking her wingtips on the walls...

"I don't know, I have some pretty wild dreams." Seriously, though, I doubt they would have faulted her for aborting the mission... Much.

Even if that means finding something worth more to you than the power of a ring? Pretty unlikely, sure, but never underestimate the power of other emotions.

Bizarrely, he's honestly doing better than the Light have, at that. I don't see Savage leveraging his ownership of Cosmic Converter tech into profits (when he isn't dead...) And Lex is, well, Lex.

...Let's not go too crazy here, OL. It would be amusing if you somehow poached Toren from the Greenies, but I don't think the Guardians would be too happy about it. Still, I'm sure he'd be willing to observe... Remind me, did any of the Earth Lanterns ever try it out? Or were they too cautious?

Good timing on the doormen's part... ;) I assume there's monks handling the door, or it's got a very good remote-opening action...

...And now I'm going to hear the abbot as Ian McKellan. :D Thanks.

Ah, the old walk-and-talk scenes. Always such great character interaction builders. Wonder what shape their internet's going to be in after OL's done. Never mind the theological arguments he'll set off. And offering Toren a go with an orange ring, too? Heh, I wonder what Avarice spiced with Will tastes like to the Ophidian?

Now I'm thinking that we'll be getting a Black Light cult this episode.

And all the colors don't necessarily mean they respect the other colors.

They may not even know about them.

The monastery Onik cake from was a Source worshipping one.

    It gets the job done.

    Is this all that surprising?

The Light is composed of self deluded, narcissistic egomaniacs that only care about becoming more powerful, no matter how many people suffer.

He has put the convertor on the market in the Paragon timeline, after spending decades not doing it to spite its inventor.

A narcissistic, xenophobic egomaniac with an inferiority and superiority complex, as well as a god complex that is insulting to actual gods, and unresolved sexual tension with Superman.

But that's one of his defining characteristics!

It's not bizarre at all. The Light are supervillains. If they were sensible or rational they would just be criminals.

Remember, the difference between criminals and supervillains is that the latter doesn't see any problem with the idea of building a killsat to nuke cities for the hell of it.

Also, I assume "Al Scott" is the yellow nega-Alan, right?

Mr Zoat I am really curious how it is to read a summary of quite a large amount of knowledge generated by Ring. Is it cliche AI levels of dry or does the Ring somehow capture exactly what Paul would have written if he had taken the time?

Is there a point to mentioning Fate, really? I mean, isn't the entire franchise an excuse to fuck gender bended mythical/historical figures and supernatural creatures/entities and stuff?

Not judging or anything, this is the last place to be kink shaming. But at the same time, if it's just porn with plot I'm not going to take it that seriously or consider it a great work of fiction. The only things the Fate franchise is good for, from what I gathered, are pretty girls/boys/others and some memes.

The Doctor is the Indigo Tribesman that we saw when we first met Ranx. He was captured by the cannibals that had some Larfleeze rings and they were using him to recharge said rings. Dame Carol and Al Scott are from the Sindicate Universe, where Blue Paul is at; one is a Knight from the Star Sapphires and the other is a Yellow Ring user Mob Supervillain Boss.

See, the thing about The Nassuverse is that is lures you in with the promise of waifus and fun, magical adventures for the holy grail so you can achieve your greatest wish.

Then you actually learn what the world is like. Get to experience it from the perspective of innocents dragged, kicking and screaming, into the moon-lit world.

There is no good, there is no "happy ending", man will never see the stars, and should they come to see us it's already too late. Magic is bared from us, for our very desire to know has ruined it for all but a select few, and they will not, can not, share their gifts with us.

All that is, all that can ever be, is entropy, and the laughter of dark things best left unknown.

But other than that the waifus are pretty cool, yeah.

Planet still wants to kill everyone though.

Gotta be honest, it doesn't surprise me. Almost every Hentai world is a crapsack world, and to me that's what the Fate verse is, that's why I said it's porn with plot. It's weird when it's not crapsack, actually.

Credit where its due though, the waifus are top quality, but I don't even learn their names unless it's an original character. I don't want to imagine George Washington, Simon Bolivar or Napoleon Bonaparte as a cute fuckable girl. Oh, and the animation for some fights I've seen in YouTube is pretty good. Between the waifus for every taste and color and the animated fights, the appeal is pretty clear. Just not where I would expect great story telling and stuff.

There is exactly zero porn in the main series, anything you may have seen is fan made. The closest it gets is the various instances of rape present in some of the hero's and/or villain's stories, which is always portrayed as exactly as fucked up as it is.

Like I said, the waifus are there to make things look nice, and that's it.

The main character in the first Nassuverse story wants to either become a superhero or die depending on the choices you make in the OG visual novel, probably both at the same time.

It isn't a hentai world, it doesn't work off of porn logic, all there is is a nice coating of waifus and magic to help take your mind off of the existential dread that the series is based on.

I mean, I can't deny that I have seen the fan made stuff. But from what I know, which admittedly isn't much, the visual novel that you reference is an Eroge, is it not? And I remember seeing a reaction by Blind Wave in YouTube to one of the series where they reference that and how the anime modified a plot contrivance to fuck that the game has. Maybe that doesn't completely match the definition of Hentai but between the erotica and the Date Sim paths you can't blame for thinking it.

I'm not judging anybody the enjoyment of the material, just stating that the covers, and they're multiple and pretty big covers of themselves, doesn't really tell me that I should be expecting super solid or deep story telling inside. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's just the way I see the Fate verse and the impression I've gotten from it.

I will admit, I hadn't know about the erotica in the visual novel, but the point still stands for literally everything else as far as I'm aware.

As for the idea of "solid" story telling? Well... honestly I know more about the lore than I do any of the anime/mange/games, so I'm not exactly an expert on that front. I'd imagine it would be the same as most things anime really, either you'll find it compelling or you won't. Though I do know that there's a lot of context from Stay Night that's pretty much completely lost in any of the anime adaptations, which can make Shiro look like an absolute idiot, when in reality he just genuinely doesn't care about his own life.

There are of course around a dozen spin-offs, some more humorous than the edge fest of the classic such as Caravel Phantasm, but in so much as I'm aware the core of "Shit's fucked and we're all going to die" stays the same across the board except for the stuff that's meant to be comedic.

And, honestly, the fact that there was some contrived plot point that let you bang Baeber Saber doesn't really detract from how utterly fucking miserable things could get in Stay Night's paths. Like, "Lich made of dicks worms from hell that rapes his adopted Granddaughter to stay immortal" fucked up. And that's just one path where you get to know it happens.

Two of the most Human/good characters in the series are Iskander, The King Of Hearts, better know as Alexander The Great, who preaches an ideology of absolute selfishness for those in power (there's absolutely more to it than that, but having never watched Fate Zero I can't comment any further) and the literal alien Quatzequatel, who used be be some bio-sludge from space until the Mesoamericans elevated them into divinity through worship.

Admittedly, Quatzequatel is just a genuinely good person as far as I can tell, taking joy in just helping people, and wanting nothing more than for Humanity to prosper. They (currently she because of some divine reincarnation shenanigans and marketing) also refused the blood sacrifices that the other gods of their pantheon accepted/ordered because Quatzequatel is the single chill-est lad on Earth.

Pretty much everyone else ranges from "Suicidally depressed" to "Batshit crazy" to "There is no pit deep enough in hell to put you in for what you've done." Bonus points if they hit all of those and happen to be an eldritch abomination made up of Mankind's numerous sins. Like Jack The Ripper. The Apocrypha version anyway, Prototype Jack is just an eldritch abomination based off of the idea of Jack The Ripper IIRC.

Edit:This is getting a bit off topic though, so if you have any thing else you want to ask I would suggest taking it to DMs or going on a wiki walk. Just be warned that the various wikis can be a bit obtuse in their wording, partially because a decent chunk of the most recent lore (and probably some of the older stuff too) is a bit rough around the edges as far as translation goes, and partially because said rough (usually fan) translations are being quoted directly for the page text.

Yeah, the OG novel started as borderline hentai, but the franchise in general quickly switches into putting more focus on the story/characters rather than porn. For me Fate was always the epitome of"come for the titties, stay for the epic battles and struggles of historical characters against eachother".

Edit: And no is not probably cause, Lancelot, Camelot and many other things of the legend are french made.

Oh and most of the revival of interest in the legend... was done by a Yankee.

No, I mean, I'm not going to reject it out of hand just because it's French. I'm just going to treat it with slightly more suspicion, i.e. as if I had probable cause to do a search.

    Ooooh. This brings back memories.

Worked a few years as a QA Tester in Cloud Services, specializing in Data Residency. While a Trained Monkey could do the job (no offense to Bobo intended), the work was legally important due to data residency laws. Everyone wanted to use Cloud services for stuff because it's easy, cheap and they don't have to look after the hardware. Couldn't use it because they were legally blocked from doing so due to personal information leaving the companies control. I guess that's less of an issue if you have a one world government, but here on earth, governments frown on having stuff like medical or banking info of their citizens being hosted in other nations. Makes it a nightmare for the courts when they subpoena for records too.

At least the job had less wolves then the previous one.

That thing about the Planet wanting to kill everyone in the Nasuverse is sadly literal. There's some story set in (one of) the future(s) where Humanity basically never learns how not to fuck the environment and eventually managed to kill the Earth itself. The Earth doesn't actually care that we managed to kill it. Then it realizes something that terrifies it. Humanity has reached the point where it can continue to survive even on a dead planet. The idea that we don't need the Earth to survive causes it to freak the fuck out and beg the other planets in the solar system to wipe out Humanity. They oblige by sending various biological superweapons that have to be fought off.

It's also a setting where magic gets weaker the more Humanity advances scientifically. Because Nasuverse magic is literally powered by "the mystery of not knowing how the universe works".

Finally caught up on this story again after like....man has it really been two years? Zoat's a goddamn machine isn't he?

It isn't a hentai world and its not a porn-centric series. The original visual novel is has like one or two sex scenes in each route and they're all very short and they're all very bad. The main appeal of it is and always has been the characters, setting, and story. And it isn't a crapsack world either. Nasu's works have dark elements but the man trends towards optimism and he places a lot of value in understanding others and finding family/companionship.

Like, here's a succinct way to put it as said by someone else:
"I could write entire essays on the fate series and fate/grand order and all the themes and the writing and why I want people to go banana with me, but really it all boils down to “The reason why humanity could be saved, the single thing that allowed the world to survive, is that despite their own imminent death, someone looked at a dying girl and chose to comfort her in their last moments.”

    I find that... gauling.

And speaking of stealing things from the French, that region is historically (and also in some current languages like Greek) known as Gaul.

I can't find a good citation on the spelling but it's poking my intuition the wrong way. (Might be "Na'aquall"?)

Actually it didn't, the original work wasn't hentai and the lead was female (prototype is a rework from it), but it didn't catch attention and Nasu was told by a friend that his work would sell a lot if it was an eroge novel, so he took the advice to heart reworked things and Fate as a franchise now prints a lot of money.

The issue with lost context is that Shirou often says one thing to others while we see in his inner thoughts what is actually going on, even the meme of "People die when they are killed" makes sense in context (something the Anime failed to convey).

Anyways the derail has become quite large, so it's probably best to stop now... Yes Artemis has become like 80% of the counter Guardian Emiya, but that wasn't something Zoat planned, it just happened.

Also the world of fate isn't THAT cynical, yes the entire universe (The world of Gaia) wants to kill humanity, but the point is that humanity has infected Gaia and given her a split personality that wants to keep humans alive and in SOME futures humanity has done exactly that and has broken through the shackles imposed by Gaia...

Yeah that just meant that a bunch of eldric alien abominations decided to take their own turn on destroying humanity, but hey.

In response to the quote you've made in spoilers, I think I personally disagree. I believe that what makes humanity special is its ability to, when faced with a problem, continue to push forward and find a find a solution. Of course, this comes with its own barrel of issues, and it certainly isn't the be all end all to the human experience. It's just my personal preference. I guess that's why I prefer stories like WTR, where a character with power recognizes problems and then successfully goes about finding solutions to them, not because it's the right thing to do, but because they recognize these problems as things that make the world wrong, and so they solve them so that they can live in a world that they recognize as being right.
