With This Ring (Young Justice SI) (Thread Fourteen)

So it's stuck here, and doesn't want to be, and even though the smart thing to do would be to pretend to be nice so that we would take it away, it attacked us. So… Maybe it knows that it can't get away? And it's just taking a shot because that's all it can do

Or maybe it thinks that if it can punish you then whoever or whatever imprisoned it will release it.

If true they are in a lot of trouble, because only the innocent can defeat justice.

Sadly that's not true.

And I highly doubt this thing is justice.

Wow, that was a really interesting segment! Iname has a lot of depht to her, and this did a good job at exploring that. It's amazing how much you can learn about someone by seeing things from their perspective. Hope we get to see more of her P.O.V. in the future.

What is Misa referring here?

The naginata smashes through the wall behind me and I don't wait, I just run out, following the naginata. Outside, it's still raining, and my weapon-. It didn't even go that far. That's weird. I sheath my kama, pick up my naginata, and look around very carefully in case my house has caught up with me again.
'sheathe'
Thanks for posting this clip as this seems like what this thing's whole plan is.
I think that's the opposite of what its plan is. Iname mentions that it could have pretended to be nice so that they'd take it with, and yet instead it attacked immediately. She reckons that it is somehow trapped on this planet so completely that it can't escape even with their help.

Iname is insane, I wouldn't take anything she says with a pinch of salt.

Being insane does not automatically equal being stupid. Besides, questionnable sanity aside, her arguments were sound, and she was right about the entity lying to her.

Besides, there's plenty of other characters in this story who are insane too, yet still somehow manage to be smart. Even a broken clock can be right twice a day.

The problem with that idea is that her arguments were not sound, because they were based entirely around the assumption that whatever is doing this would want to leave.

She may have thought that it would want to leave because it seems like there's no point in staying.

The planet lacks any life and this thing apparently likes torturing people due to its view about justice.

If it likes doing that then why not leave and go to worlds that actually have people so that it can punish them.

Heck, here's the part when she thinks about that.

I know you don't read the story, so I thought I'd show it to you.

And it was trying to scare me. Trying to make me feel bad about the things it thinks I shouldn't have done. But… Why? And why not on Earth? Is it stuck here? That's the only thing that seems to make sense… But… It should be able to go into the Dream, shouldn't it? Or whatever version of Hell exists here, and get to Earth that way? So it is stuck here?

It obviously has no problem lying to people, so the fact that it didn't try to trick them into taking it with them could strongly indicate that it thinks that there's no way out.

Iname is trying to figure things out, but not strongly committed to her conclusions. If new evidence arrives, she'll update her conclusions on the entity. Personally I like a character willing to engage in some theorizing. Even if she's wrong, she's at least got a model she can test the entity's future behavior against.

It's funny that the story had to arbitrarily turn off her powers just to make things interesting. Flash level speed with an a killer's mentality is pretty terrifying. She even confirmed that she can vibrate through solid objects just like the Flash. There's a lot of situations where she just flat out wins most fights.

No, she can't see any reason to stay.

That doesn't mean it doesn't have one.

I get what you're trying to say, but we can't really blame Iname for coming to such conclusions based on her own observations. If those observations are wrong, it just means that she's wrong. Besides, it's not like any of us wouldn't have come to similar conclusions if we were in her place. As far as she knows, the entity's apparent goals are at odds with its staying on this planet, so logically, it makes sense for her to assume that the entity wants to leave, but can't.

Honestly, I don't know. Sometimes, not every problem can be solved by being really fast. In fact, too much speed can sometimes be a bad thing.

Case in point:

All else aside, I wonder how long it's been since the world had a Misa-Misa POV chapter of anything. Death Note's pretty old now.
