Video Games General

Anybody else given up on special editions and anything limited quantity? Scalpers always get there first. There's really no hope besides paying 10x the base price.

Aside: I did finally buy a Switch 2. Started with Donkey Kong. Pretty fun so far, I'm down to Hillside.

Can't fucking find the first banana in the nostalgia stage, despite it being 2D.

Pauline is cute and evil monkey lady is sexy.

Playing through the Graveyard Keeper 2 demo, and its definitely improved upon the original. One of my main problems with first title and why I've bounced off my multiple attempts to actually play it is how damn slow going it is for a while, this one starts off a lot quicker and gets you going faster.

Yeah, Graveyard Keeper 1 has some horrible pacing early on; you can't unlock anything that needs blue tech points until after you open up the church, for example.

But at the same time, it talks about how the best move for some things is stuff you can't unlock for awhile, like cremation.

Plus, there's how the PC version had 3 paid DLC packs (Stranger Sins, Game of Crones, and Better Save Soul) and one (free) update that acted like DLC (Breaking Dead)... but the console versions had Breaking Dead as the 4th paid DLC pack.

The Switch version didn't even get Better Save Soul... which isn't all that big a loss, as the game got more and more unstable the more DLC was installed, and the Switch version was pretty crash prone with just the 3 DLCs that it did get.

Anyways, based on what you've seen of the demo, have they added a way to increase your inventory size, or does it seem like they're going back to the bag system introduced in Game of Crones (except now hopefully with dedicated bag slots, so they aren't clogging up your main inventory)?

I haven't seen anything inventory expansion wise yet, but they do give you some free chests in your base and it looks like they have waypoints you can activate with Faith for fast travel. Haven't quite gotten to where faith is unlock but I am close. I already have researching and a couple free zombie workers though.

Well now I Know what the Story for Graveyard Keeper 2 is:
It's expanding on a minor plot point from GK1 of the Keeper being split in half. I'll be honest, I thought the other was sent back home as a corpse or something and then forgot about it. Just he was split between the Sin and Virtue halves? Although didn't get that the Sinful Keeper was very much of that. He just seemed to be a normal guy trying to get by and being told what to do by everyone else. Unless this Keeper is the Sinful One. Trying to see how far I can get without Faith and already hit a roadblock from misspending certain points when I shoulda put them in Mastery. Haven't gone off with the smith to assault the town yet, trying to finish up a lot of other things and only just started.

It's also Interesting seeing the Keeper(s) were from a world with a 6 day week and 23 hour days while this fantasyland they were Isekai'd to has a 7 day week. Also confirmation that the days actually are Named for their Sins given the Voice Acting. The Text still just shows the Symbol though.

If I remember right, first game was pretty clear Graveyard Keeper was the representative of Greed because all he does is for rewards from others.

Graveyard Keeper 2:
Well it's official: I hate the automation. It's poorly explained, nonsensical, and there's numerous limitations on it that make it almost impossible to actually use oh and the Game has points that force you to use it anyway. You have a zombie limit that reduces sermon success chances it you go over it, you need 2-3 zombies for every resource and 6 resource sources, the automation also requires 4 zombies for the first of numerous power generators, every conveyor belt takes a piece from that power. The limit? 5 at the beginning, 10 with an upgrade. There's a temporary limit boost from the con artist guy to 30. The zombies only generate 7/10 power per zombie and you need a zombie to operate the machines.

Best I have figured is to make a flax field and automate with 2 zombies and force through that limit anyway with the hits to Faith generation, make fabric supplies in large quantities for the Tailor and Jack.. Now I'm being limited by my power generation and lack of corpses. Can't even beginning to mass produce the kits needed to repair the town because the belts eat up all the power before they reach anywhere and I can't figure out how to not use belts. If it weren't for the Game forcing me to I would've probably abandoned the factory altogether by now. This is the first time I've found a factory Game that actually sucked. Really quite the feat.

Also something I noticed while progressing Sister Agatha's Questline: the Keeper somehow Knows about the- uh- [FORBIDDEN TOPIC] proclivities of the Donkey and what he's a Parody of. The Donkey never even hinted except in off-hand comment or two about that past but the Keeper talks like he's the Sinful Keeper.

Pretty much too busy doing literally everything else to get around to the zombie fighting. Worst part is the Game has In Universe justification for zombie allowed areas like the resources are in a forest people aren't allowed to go or the sewer tunnels.

If I remember right, first game was pretty clear Graveyard Keeper was the representative of Greed because all he does is for rewards from others.
Huh, never got that. I pretty much spent the whole time trying to pay taxes or buy the upgrades. I don't think he was even represented on the Greed portion of the stained glass wheel? The things the Fairy accused the Keeper of also were things I remember being strong armed into. Like the Inquisitor wanting his parties.

So commandos 1 had nothing. commandos 2 had bonus (how did they made those pictures?). commandos 4 (strike force) had nothing, but than again it was more of a fps than a commandos game. so it doesn't count. Commandos 5 (origin) had collectables.
But what did commandos 3 (removing driver I could understand, they had already given his specializations to the others, but why did they remove the seductress?)?

Also is it me or does commandos origin, while feeling like an upgrade compared to commandos 3 (which isn't saying much), feels a bit lacking compared to commandos 2?
I can't put my finger on it, but there's something that feels off.
Again, maybe it's just me.

Graveyard Keeper 2:
Finally figured out the trick with the factory. Also the factory keeps crashing my Game. Anyway: underground belts go 5 spaces and count as 2 belts, belt chests are free 3 way belts that can cross paths and I woule only use those is they didn't need a belt to move the stuff. I now have an all purpose factory of a smithy 1s and assembler 2s able to make anything not needing steel. Just can't figure out how to get Jack up to relationship 70. Also neglected the voting quest till I did everyone else and accidentally had all the relationship pevels for everyone excluding Herbert. So I'm training up my army by replacing the miners, diggers, and quarriers with the soldiers to gather reds to loophole their combat strength. Annoyingly the quarry needs suppliers to work. I can't figure out why that's the only one that works that way, would think they would have all of them or none of them that way. Now having resource issues from having a constant stream of stuff being sent to the drop off each week. Only one line per of course. Once I get Smithy 2/3 plan on upgrading again (that will suck from how much trouble I went through the first time).

Plan B: Teraform
Got a new DLC for lava worlds and ocean worlds. I see the ocean world as effectively getting the headstart. They also added ocean life to the base game.

Oh, hey, I remember that when it was just a Concept a guy came up with for a tank doing Dark Souls bullshit.

Ha, failed it up during the final battle of the new Vermintide end game scenario in Total Warhammer 3. Dealing with the Vermintide itself wasn't much of a thing but, the actual final fight is rough. You have to fight off forces from all 12 clans of the Skaven Council of 13 and then Skreech Verminking and the Council's elite guard as they continually reinforce the battle one at a time. Presumably not trusting the others not to kill them in the middle of a big murderball so they can be the one to take credit for the win. They aren't full armies but it's an absolute grind. Eshin in particular is nasty if you try to 1 v 1 Deathmaster Snikch (who I don't think I've ever actually fought before that) and the 7th clan, a minor one I forget the name of, brings a flock of flying monsters and a basilisk, a debilitating support monster.

The actual Vermintide part of the campaign was kind of a joke because by the time it happened, all the big names for the campaign were firmly established and able to bully rats by themselves, though I did claim a lot of free real estate left behind by the rats exploding half the map. I became Settra, the real estate mogul, and bought out three of the five strongest factions besides myself with sketchy land deals.
