[RWBY] RWBY Shorts

It is incredibly sexist. It is used to dismiss men on the basis of their sex during a conversation if they're trying to explain something. Usually by women who just want to shut men down and demonize them.

Common tactics involve asking a prodding question to get men to explain something and then shut them down by telling them to 'stop mansplaining at me'.

VIZ MIGHT care because they spent money on this IP. Volume 10 is ether going to justify this purchase and funding the series as they 'greenlit' it a few months ago.

If we choose to boycott and sail the high seas for Volume 10, it will tank their results.

What? That's not sexism, that's a normal thing.

Why would VIZ care for that. I am pretty sure they are cosplaying as Trazyn and keeping interesting baubles of the past in their deep storage pit.

Here's a simple test: Swap the genders in a given scene, imagine them as the opposite sex. Now, if two men were condescending like that to a woman and it would be considered sexist... It's also sexist to do it to men just because of their gender.

A Veteran's Take on the Fall of Beacon New
Right. Almost forgot about this.

A Veteran's Take on the Fall of Beacon

This is going to be equal parts AAR and Forensic Report for the Fall of Beacon. While the primary goal of this is to debunk the retarded nature of foreshadowing Pyrrha Nikos's death, any other observations are welcome.

Pyrrha Nikos' literal translation of her name is "Pyrrhic Victory" when run together. Many people believed this to be the foreshadowing of her namesake for whom she is a gender swapped expry of. That being the Greek Hero Achillies who ALSO once dressed up as a girl and went by the name Pyrrhos. Achillies was said to have sought glory in battle rather then live forever as a nobody and was supposedly killed at the Battle of Troy by an arrow through his heel. Thus Pyrrha was supposedly fated to die as a result of the same.

This is effectively a running theme with Team JNPR being expires of famous heroes both real and imagined who cross dressed and died at the end of their tale.

The outcome of the Battle of Vale then should have been a "Pyrrhic Victory" as promised.

The goal of any conflict is often to accomplish a set of objectives. The simplest of which is 'Total Eradication' or at the very least forcing the enemy to abandon and quit the field. That was not the overall goal at the Battle of Vale and there were more objectives to accomplish. Which is usually the case when attacking an enemy stronghold. The City of Vale and Beacon Academy for our purposes count for this.

There is also the consideration that this was effectively a Special Operation given the actual number of people on one side so that will be taken into consideration as well.

Therefore for these purposes. We will be looking at the various objectives and whomsoever completes or fails will be rated appropriately.

The next thing to outline will be our various Victory classifications.

Overwhelming Victory: Accomplishing 80% or greater objectives.
Major Victory: Accomplishing between 50-75% objectives.
Minor Victory: Accomplishing between 10-50% objectives.
Defeat will be determined by the gap between objectives failed and objectives succeeded.

Minor Defeat
Major Defeat
Overwhelming Defeat

Of special consideration is the Pyrrhic Victory. For our purposes a Pyrrhic Victory will be counted should any event greatly reverse the flow of battle resulting in an 11th hour reverse of objective accomplishment. Such as causing an objective to fail when previously succeeded for the enemy and succeeding at an objective that has failed.

Now let meet the two major factions in this conflict.

The Forces of Salem:
Headed by Salem herself. These also include her Lieutenants and other Agents that may be working with her willingly... or not. Her Regular Forces are considered to be the Creatures of Grimm.

The Ozluminati:
Headed by Ozma and his reincarnations. This time in the form of Headmaster Ozpin of Beacon Academy. His Lieutenants being the other Headmasters and certain named Huntsmen as his direct agents. While he has no real Regular Forces, it is likely due to his position he can call upon Huntsmen to act as his Shocktroops. For our purposes we can also include Beacon Students such as the Titular RWBY and our focus in JNPR.

In addition to this we also have two minor factions. The White Fang and the Atlas Military. Headed by Adam Taurus and James Ironwood.

Salem herself was not present and therefore her position as Commander for this battle is filled in by her Lieutenant, Cinder Fall.

So we have the Faction Table below:

Forces of Salem
White Fang
Ozluminati
Atlas Miltiary
Commander: Cinder Fall
Supreme Commander: Headmaster Ozpin
Commander: Adam Taurus
Commander: James Ironwood

With this, we have our first objective. Kill the opposing commander. Preserve your own.

This is especially crucial for Cinder Fall and Ozpin. Cinder is the lynchpin of this entire operation. If she dies, the Maiden Powers are lost to the wind. If Ozpin dies, that's going to be a major setback as his reincarnation will need at least 20 years to return to a position he can actually use again.

Which brings us to Cinder's Plan and the reason she's here in Vale. The Maiden Powers. She was only partially successful and needs the rest of them as we find out in Volume 2.

Of particular note is the Relics. Volumes 4-6 retconned the nature of the conflict going beyond the Maiden Powers to include four relics hidden in vaults in the school. This was a rejected plot point by Monty shoehorned in after his death by Miles and Kerry. Therefore I have to retroactively apply this and include it in the objectives list. And spoiler, it doesn't change the outcome.

So lets look at the other objectives.

Salem wants to keep humanity confused and divided. Ozpin NEEDS them united for his Divine Mandate.

So that's Objective Two. Cinder must sow confusion and distrust. Ozpin needs to keep moral and belief in humanity as a united force high.

Next objective. Cinder needs the remaining Maiden Powers. Without them she presumably can't open the vault. (This can be a point of debate but Cinder being a narcissistic megalomaniac is going to want the full powers anyway.) Ozpin needs to kill Cinder to recover them. Barring that, he needs to keep her from killing Amber or otherwise taking the powers by moving them to a new host.

Next, the Relic. While things are murky thanks to this blatant retcon in Volume 5, it is hinted that the Crown of Choice, Beacon's Relic, may not be in the vault but still somewhere in Beacon. As evidenced by Volume 9 deleted scenes, Salem tore apart Beacon and Vale down to the bedrock and presumably has it. This is therefore another objective. Obtain the Relic or barring that, gain control over Beacon and therefore the vault and/or the Relic's last known location. Ozpin needs to prevent that.

Well that covers our major factions. But our Minor Factions have their own agenda as well.

The White Fang? Well that's easy. Terrorize humanity into "Faunus Equality" or because this is Adam, we'll just call it like he wants it and that to terrorize humanity into becoming the slaves of the Faunus.

Ironwood has the same goals as Ozpin but with a more nationalistic bent. He's brought his newest toys from Atlas. And if they can make a big splash here, Atlas can start exporting them as security and military options. On paper this will save lives as machines can be easily replaced compared to human troops thereby making this a feelgood option. Underneath there are economic and political agendas for Atlas Dominance and power projection. We'll boil this down to "Successful deployment of new assets for Atlas Purposes."

So lets put them in a nice list.

Kill Ozpin, Kill or capture any other Commanders possible.Kill Cinder, Kill or capture any other Commanders possible.
Sow Confusion, Distrust, and Chaos. Divide HumanityInstill Order, Stability, and Security. Unite Humanity
Recover the Maiden powers.Recover the Maiden powers, Secure the remaining power away from Cinder
Obtain the relic. If not, secure control of Vault/Relic Hiding Place/BeaconDeny access to the Relic. Keep control of Beacon
Instill Terror into Humans to fear Faunus.Successful deployment of new assets for Atlas Purposes

Now for the Fun Part. We go over the Battle of Vale/Fall of Beacon.

We'll start with the Flashpoint that kicks off the whole thing and ignites the powerkeg. The Shot Heard Round the World. The death of the Archduke. Insert your culture's most famous first shot fired in a famous conflict here.

But for the Fall of Beacon, the thing that starts it all is Vytal Festival Finals Pyrrha Nikos vs Penny Poledina. A match fixed by Cinder to happen despite the roulette wheel with an outcome made possible by Emerald and her Semblance to cause Pyrrha to overcommit with Polarity and expose Penny as a Gynoid resulting in her death. Everything else that has happened leads up to this moment.

Cinder from an undisclosed location in Vale, seizes control of Global Transmissions thanks to the virus uploaded during the Dance. She goes on about how the Huntsman Academies are nothing more than Child Soldier bootcamps training children to become hyperviolent untouchable killers referring to the fixed match between Yang and Mercury. She points out Penny as an Atlas Weapons program to create human androids and replace people in the populace with infiltrator units loyal to them. She plants the seeds of doubt, distrust, and confusion all while ensuring that her enemies can't take control of her broadcast and shut her down.

The end result? Grimm numbering in the thousands swoop in on Vale attracted to the overwhelming negativity engaging Atlas forces.

In the confusion, the White Fang air lift into Vale and bring with them yet more Grimm, released into the city to cause more havoc and confusion while they go about making a show of force sending a message that the White Fang is here and that the Faunus are not to be tred upon.

Neo, having slipped aboard Ironwood's flagship, releases Roman and he uploads another virus to take control of Atlas' robots. He also take the flagship for a joyride engaging other Atlas Airships, blowing a few out of the sky. Neo goes missing during this, likely engaging the ship's crew to keep them from interfering with Torchwick.

The Atlas bots turn on citizens, Atlas personnel, and huntsman like. We even bear witness to unmanned drone Paladins engage our 'heroes'.

And all of this broadcasted by Cinder leaving confusion and doubt as to whether Atlas has turned on its allies and is openly declaring war on Vale.

Ho-lee. SHIT.

So in the opening Salvo lets look at our list.

Instill Terror into Humans to fear Faunus.Successful deployment of new assets for Atlas Purposes

...That is NOT a great start.

Our Heroes Rally. Ironwood goes to reclaim his flagship. The other run to defend Beacon. Cinder has used the confusion to return to Beacon herself and slip in. Pyrrha takes Jaune to join Ozpin who is now attempting to secure the other objectives.

Ironwood gets shot down after an impressive showing. He's still alive so that's not a kill but he's otherwise out of the fight. No points to either side. Ruby decides to quit the defense of Beacon and go do Ironwood's job for him. She succeeds... sort of? She's actually LOSING this fight against Torchwich and Neo. Neo is made to quit the battle by Umbrella. No kill, no point.

And then Torchwick is about to finish Ruby off and score a kill... only to get Friendly Fired by his own side and eaten whole by a Grimm. Ruby barely lives to fight another day and returns to the defense of Beacon.

...I honestly do not know how to score this. So I'll give it half a point to the Ozluminati. Roman was a major player in Cinder's plan. Half of what she accomplished in Vale would not have been possible without him and his death is definitive here. But seriously... dead to friendly fire right on the cusp of killing the title character? Writing Sin if you're keeping score there.

Now lets check in on Adam... oh he's nearly killed Blake and chopped off Yang's arm... and then quit the field... well he's actually accomplished his goal so Major Victory can be declared for the White Fang and this is a successful campaign for him. Good job killer! But uh... lay off the psycho ex-boyfriend act eh? You didn't need that to be cool and scary. I suppose I should also count that as a hard failure against the Atlas Military seeing as how Ironwood was forced to quit the field by literal mooks, accomplished nothing, his bots are still running rampant, and his flagship was blown from the sky somehow by Ruby. Major Defeat to Atlas. They'll quit Vale after this and go home to lick their wounds.

The Beacon Trainees make a good showing as does Glynda and Qrow, Velvet finally gets her time to shine but she's just a copy paste of the Red Trailer but Bunny Girl variant. Otherwise nothing of special note occurs.

So lets then go check in with where the plot is actually happening in Beacon's Basement.

Pyrrha, our focus, agrees to the transfer which Ozpin initiates. He sets Jaune to watch the eleve-

*DING!* *CRASH!*

OH GODDAMN IT JAUNE! YOU HAD ONE JOB!

Jaune looks away at a critical moment as Pyrrha screams in pain and a glass arrow comes flying out of the elevator, right over his oblivious shoulder, and straight into Amber's chest killing her. The process reverses as the Amber dies and the Maiden powers are reunited in their new master Cinder Fall.

Well FUCK. This is rapidly falling apart for the Ozluminati isn't it? At this point they NEED to score a kill on Cinder Fall...

...and she just killed Ozpin off screen while Jaune and Pyrrha escape trying to find help.

Kill Ozpin, Kill or capture any other Commanders possible.Kill Cinder, Kill or capture any other Commanders possible.

That's going to be DOUBLE points since she scored a major Strategic Victory in Salem's Campaign in addition to an objective.

No doubt all this negativity and failure is going to summon yet more Grimm-

300

Oh.... that's not our usual Grimm....

At this point both minor factions in the White Fang and Atlas are pulling out. They're done. Vale is burning. Huntsmen are being forced to retreat. The Students are too wounded to go on.

At this point, Pyrrha finally decides NOW is the time to go fight her 'destined battle'. If she can score a kill against Cinder, she could turn this whole thing around. This would be her finest hour. And even if she dies here, her death would let her achieve her Destined 'Pyrrhic Victory'...

I know I make fun of Cinder from time to time and don't treat her like a threat. I also do not really feel whatever it is that many others here seem to feel for Pyrrha (or Nora, or Ren, but since everyone else seems more with me with the other two, it is always the most visible with Pyrrha). But it is already a tremendous testament to both the former's uselessness and the latter's skill that this fight was anything besides a gimme for Cinder as it was (on the Watsonian Level). Any more, I fear will come across as a literary ass-pull.

Every factor there, bar the terrain, stacked that deck in Cinder's favor, so much so that it comes off as comedic, and I am not able to get past that.

To me, Cinder should be able to trounce an opponent that she has that many advantages against stock, and who has that many disadvantages against her specifically baked in - if nobody else.

If Cinder so much as comes into the same postal code as bobbling a fight with the odds stacked that far in her favor by its very premise, then Salem needs to kill her and pick a new Maiden immediately.

Because the real problem will be on Cinder's end. If she cannot win hand-over-fist against an opponent that she has almost every conceivable advantage against, then if Cinder comes up against any opponent that she does not have nearly as many advantages against, and doesn't get slaughtered immediately, then you prove absolutely that every other win or accomplishment that you give Cinder as a naked plot contrivance.

Which, for a major plot-driving antagonist, is very bad.

...Goddamn it you're right. There's no real feasible way for Cinder to lose here.

And yes Count. Volume 8 proved it by giving us Cinder's actual backstory which is 1-1 an evil Cinderella origin. I mean dear god the soundtrack alone for this sequence...

Plus I don't think CRWBY know enough history to even be aware of Paris and his part in Achilles' death. They just knew that Achillies dies to an arrow in his heel and so gave Cinder a Glass Bow to accomplish that.

Where was I? Oh yes. Updating the scoreboard with the outcome.

Pyrrha dies accomplishing nothing. Cinder survives the fight practically unscathed.

Ruby bears witness and fires off Silver Eyes. The Wyvern is Petrified. Not alive but not quite dead ether as it's still 'calling Grimm' to beacon. Half point to both sides on the asset but Kevin's sacrifice actually allows him an actual Pyrrhic Victory in fulfilling the last objective as Cinder is injured enough in the Silver Eyes flash to quit the field. Allowing Qrow to recover Ruby without a fight.

However Cinder is not dead. She still has the Maiden Powers. The forces of Salem control the ruins of Beacon as the Ozluminati and Atlas Military are forced to flee and the Grimm Occupy the ruins allowing Salem free access into Beacon whenever she wants to claim the relic. She can even recover Kevin if she really wants so I'll give her side full marks and half point to Ozluminati. Because until Salem actually gets off her ass and goes to Vale. Kevin is kind of stuck where he is and can't be used in any future fights. But the Grimm will preserve him and he will continue to add to their numbers.

Out of Seven possible objectives, The Forces of Salem and their allies have accomplished EVERY SINGLE ONE. They stand at a whopping 7/7 even including the capstone of killing off Supreme Commander Ozma.

On the flip side, the Ozluminati and their allies have failed 5/7 and achieved a stalemate on the asset. And while Roman was killed. It's kind of a question mark since he was the result of friendly fire for a Plot Armor moment. So We'll say 5.5/7 failed. .5(?)/7 succeeded.

I hereby declare this an OVERWHELMING VICTORY for the forces of Salem with the added cherry on top of a Major Strategic Victory.

Therefore I must also determine the Ozluminati has suffered a Decisive Defeat on all fronts making this an Overwhelming Defeat. They lost everything and accomplished little to nothing at all.

Therefore, Pyrrha Nikos did not fulfill the foretold death making her death nothing more than a footnote and becoming the new face of 'Women in Refrigerators'. All because CRWBY wanted their little inside joke. Thus her death is a Narrative Writing Sin and is in no way justifiable. Especially in the kind of sacrifice needed for a Pyrrhic Victory.

The only way that would have happened is if she got the kill on Cinder. And Count has already helpfully provided why Cinder could not lose at that point.

Nothing further to be added to this Report.

HOLY SHIT, looking at this Ozluminati suck at there job here. Ruby did the only wins for the heroes by accident TWICE! How Pyrrha stares at Jaune while he talks about his home life 🤣 🤣 🤣

Personally, I see Jaune as good-looking, but not like extremely handsome. More like a 7/10. But him being ridiculously handsome sounds hilarious too.

It's the main thing that attracts Pyrrha to him (at least before she falls for him for other reasons). It's why Cardin bullies him; Jaune's the class hunk, despite being kind of a dud in the combat department.

Idk, I just thought it was funny.

So, a thought just occurred to me. We normally think of Blake as the writer of Team RWBY. But after the popular fanfiction site AO4 went down, leaving Blake with only her normal books and whatever is in the library to read, the rest of her team decide to write some trashy friendfiction to cheer her up. How does it go?

Ruby has to write the team's After Action Reports, so most of her writing experience is about writing AARs I suspect. I can't imagine Yang having the patience to do the best job, no matter how good her idea was. While Weiss might actually put in some decent effort and do everything an editor would do to clean up the text, I don't know if she'd make the best author.

What does everyone think? Bonus for JNPR pitching in too.

Me: Casaully sees people making fun of Jaune for crashing out on Ruby in Ever After, even cussing him out to call Ruby out.

Me remembering season 1 Episode 13.

• Jaune: "I'm a failure."
• Ruby: "Nope!... You're a leader now, Jaune. You're not allowed to be a failure."
• Jaune: "But what if I'm a failure at being a leader?"
• Ruby: "You just can't be. Look, failures are allowed to make mistakes. They can fall down and get back up. But leaders... leaders can't make mistakes. Your team depends on you. If you slip up, they slip up with you

Well well well, if it isn't the consequences of her ownn goddamn actions.

Side note, anybody who says Ruby was a better leader than Jaune needs immediate surgery.

What she had was better combatants and more experience. All of which left her the moment going went tough.

And you know who was there for her on their own volition?

Ruby was better... when the plot required it and they gave Jaune a lobotomy. Like the Vytal Festival where JNPR were suddenly unable to plan at all. Then again the whole arc was hot garbage.

"Ok let's see," Yang pondered, "Weiss, did you get that restaurant voucher?"

"Right here," Weiss elegantly raised it up between her fingers with a smug grin, "The finest restaurant in Atlas. Nora and Ren will have anything they could want. What about you Xiao-Long? Did you get the ingredients?"

"Yep! Carrots, potato's, and a nice roast! Jaune won't know what hit him!"

Blake observed them with a curious look, "What are you two talking about?"

The two looked her way, but Weiss was the one that spoke first.

"We're simply rewarding team JNPR for their support to Ruby during her travels to Mistral."

"Ok. And the romantic dinners?"

"Romantic? Blake what are you inferring?"

"You gave Nora and Ren a voucher for the most expensive place in the city. Just them. While Yang intends to make Jaune a personally made roast from the looks of it.'

"Oh don't make this some weird thing kit-kat. I just want them to feel appreciated for keeping my baby sis from being killed, or worse."

"Agreed. Now if you have no other helpful input, let us do our work."

Blake rolled her eyes, but kept her ears perked.

"Oho man this roast'll knock his socks off! Get ready for Yang's plump roast Jaune!"

"I should hope so. I do wish we could reward him a bit better though."

"Yeah. I'm sure we could think of something. Now go set the table Weisscream."

"Why don't you?"

"I'm the chef here duh! Unless YOU want to prepare a roast."

Weiss scoffed, but grabbed the silverware before leaving to set the table. Blake didn't miss the candle set in the center of the table, or the bottle of what was likely champagne nearby.

"Simple thanks my behind," Blake murmured before returning to her reading.
