  • I really loved you four billion heroes stories and would loved to read everything you had written of it. But after spending more than an hour on subscribe star trying to subscribe I just lost the motivation. Does it really need to be so difficult?
    inverted_helix
Is Broken Apocalypse finished on your subscribestar? And are you going to post the rest of the chapters on QQ at some point? It stopped kind of abruptly.
    inverted_helix
Are you okay? You haven't posted anything in a couple weeks, not even on subscribestar.
    Neko Tamo
Love to see that Moonshot update but guessing that is just a one off from you clearing the backlog as said in a previous comment.

However any plans to work on Jungles of Alabama? Figure that is a more profitable project for you being OG fiction, and an extremely promising story at that.
EDIT: Nvm I see ur doing a rewrite.
    inverted_helix
So I definitely understand focusing on your paying original works rather than fanfiction, but I noticed your subscribestar has a 24th chapter of Moon Shot. Is that ever going to be posted on QQ?

Any word on the second Alice Long book? I know you put a few early chapters up on here but that was a long time ago and there's been nothing about it since. Perilous Waif is one of my favourite books so I really want to see more.

I've gotten back to work on it in recent months, but it's slow going. Writing a chapter of Alice is probably 3-5 times more work than something like A Broken Apocalypse, and I need to put out at least one chapter of something every week or so to keep things afloat. But if you're interested, I've got the first 14 chapters of the sequel posted on my SubscribeStar.

Hey Shaper, Just wanted to say I love the writing, but couldn't afford to keep the subscribe-star subscription, but I can't wait for you to share more writing. Good luck with your muses and your health.
shaper, I'm reading the Daniel black books for the fourth time now and I'm wondering something. when Hecate isekaid Daniel, did he leave behind a physical corpse for the hospital staff to find? what I read seemed to say that his body disappeared as well but if he wanted to fake his death and leave a corpse behind, would Hecate be able to create a new body for him?

Nah, she just grabbed his body and healed it when she summoned him. That's a lot less trouble than making a whole new body. As for body swapping trickery, yes, she could pull of things like that if she wanted to. But she'd be doing it with ritual magic through her aspects, which is the kind of thing gods like Odin are familiar with. So there's no guarantee it would actually work out.
    transhumansage
but she could create a brain-dead clone of his body right when she approached him? is that within her power or does the nature of Daniel's home reality limit her power somehow? Also, according to the original deal, if Daniel is successful in protecting cerise for however long was agreed, did that mean Daniel had the option to go back home with his powers or will his home reality nerf it somehow?

I've intentionally left the limits of divine power vague, and said even less about why Daniel's world doesn't seem to have magic. But nothing was ever said about sending Daniel home. Hecate doesn't want to risk multiple trips to another Earth, and Daniel wasn't especially interested in going back anyway.

Read up on Jungles of Alabama over on RR, very well written stuff, unlike some commenters there I liked the world-building and the MCs musings why humans are different. Also seeing a work free of woke garbage was also very refreshing. I have more to say but I'll save the details for when you come back.
    Neko Tamo
Not sure if you intend to keep writing but Moon Shot was a treat. Reminded me a lot of Seven Eves if you know it. Same Moon scenario, same frantic rush to save at least someone... except here things are worse ofc bcs Worm. The writing is without flaws and the action pace unrelenting.

All in all great stuff and I hope you come back to it, but even if not best of luck to your and your future endeavours.

@noblej7 I did not misspell, it is called Seveneves (though it is one word it seems). It is a SciFi novel and you could find it in the usual places, and unusual ones too if you know what I mean.

@Angry_Crustacean it's a book, you can buy it on Amazon or wherever it is your like to acquire them. Or if you don't want to buy do what I was alluding to, pirate it, and you know where to do that as well I imagine.

Hello. I recently bought and read all four Daniel Black books on Amazon. I enjoyed them greatly and look forward to the next book in the series. Also, I enjoyed your Moon Shot story and similarly look forward to its next chapter. I may look up more of your stories later, as I have liked what I have seen.

I just want you to know that I appreciate your work and pray that things will be better for you soon.

Are you doing okay? No recent posts from you here or on Subscribestar. I know you've had health problems before.

Just got done reading Moon Shot, was a fun time. Is it dead or on hiatus?

Either way, thanks for the words so far.

It seems to occasionally to go off hiatus, so there's a 24th chapter over on Subscribestar, but I'm waiting on being regularly employed before I start putting down money for anyone's paid access story subscriptions.

Any guesses as to when the next Daniel Black book will be coming out? Or is there a patreon or something where I can read chapters pre-release? Thanks.

My first thought was to think if you changed it recently but fanfiction.net says it hasn't been changed since 2011. Which is awhile ago. Although, maybe I am just remembering badly and she gets re-brainwashed and that is the part I am thinking of. It has to have been like 6-7 years or more since I last read it
    ShaperV
    ShaperV
Wow, that takes me back. No, I haven't touched that story in over a decade, and a quick glance at ff.net shows it looks the same. There are two brainwashing incidents, both of which are pretty significant.
    Ranmabomb
So, I kind of psyched myself out and am a little confused in regard to you time braid story. I started reading it recently but had a deja vue feeling which makes me decently sure I read it before. Or at least a very similar story. But I thought the main character getting brainwashed was a multi-chapter thing rather than just one and remember it being much scarier as well..

Hey Shaper, any plans on ever getting back into your cultivation setting?

I recently got started reading InvertedHelix's take and found the original inspiration, and the whole setting seems really well put together mechanically

Possibly, but not until I either finish my current quest or get burned out on it.

It could start out with a more established base, allowing the character to branch out more since the basics are already handled. Or, start from even less, needing to take more active measures to gain resources, and having less things to keep track of since the character doesn't have much. A nth son striking out for their chance?

ANoYO is delight to play. Problem is, it's damn mess to reread after the fact. Finding evolved world-building is a compound chore, as usual I hate the fact that vote results are undiscoverable so I got no idea how we got there from where we started. Lewd scenes are nice.
I think my main gripe could be summarized as "story is told in the thread holistically, not in threadmarked elements"
    inverted_helix
    inverted_helix
It's a really deep and complex world that is hard to compress down into the threadmarked elements. That being said I'm not sure I agree that the story is spread through the thread. You won't necessarily understand the strategic choices without the thread, but I don't think there's really character elements outside the threadmarks or anything like that.

How's that going? Personally all of my writing gets stuck with only partial chapters finished, or with serious plotting issues that make me reluctant to post the chapter or two I actually finish, so I can hardly complain when other people run into issues.
    crazygrox
Still curious as to what happened this time. Different fic caught your muse after an hour? Found a great video game? Ran into a plotting/research issue with the chapter that would necessitate changing something and didn't want to go back to do that?
