    It actually wasn't without provocation. If you watch earlier in the gif, you can see that the blue cup has been cut along it's side and then the cut has been pulled apart slightly by the coin it's braced against. When the marble smacks into the blue cup, it snaps it closed and the reactionary force causes the cup to snap back I assume.
