Eh, I've always thought the Chaos Gacha was way to repetitive between stories to be called anything "Chaos" myself, glad to see it updated. I would to on and use it until it is of course. Or, you know, do your own updates and make your own version.

He has now studied the blade. Now he just needs to find a hat and a boat.

[Harem King]
Rare Trait
You are a harem king to be, your preffered partners are more attracted to you and society as a whole does not see a problem with you having a harem. In addition, your partners do not mind you dating others either, they might still have their own problems but the concept of a harem isn't one of them.

…you have got to be kidding me.
[Soft Hugger]
Uncommon Trait
Sometimes all you really need is a hug. Your hugs feel really nice and comforting, they also help dispel negative emotional states. Your hugs are literally therapeutic. Go figure.

…is the gacha trying to turn me into the ultimate support? I sigh and shrug, leading my squad down the street as I figure out how to share my latest rolls with them. Who knows how they will take these new developments?

So, lore accurate Cummander.

AN: Bronz says that the Chaos Gacha will be updated soon to be a bit more complex. Do you think I should hold off on further rolling until said major update happens, or should I just keep going and see if I can work in the update once it happens?
Depends on how much of an overhaul the update is. if it's a big injection of entries or just the tag system floated about in the official thread, it should be fine to say the changes were retroactively always in the pool without addressing it. If it actually fundamentally changes how you roll though... Is it going to be that big of an update, though?

"It's perfect! Clearly he hasn't been kissed before, so it would get him a ticket, yes?" Neon says, nodding proudly at her logic.
Neon is a genius. Now apply that logic to other intimate activities. Perhaps there will be a ticket for crashing into Anis' ass?
Get your first (indirect) kiss! Gain a Bronze Random Ticket!
Instantly proven correct. Dang, Rapi got that crush quick. Blink and you'll miss it.
What? That is dumb! No one can internalize tactics from that little time!
Enough time for some brainwashing and probably set up the more capable commanders for failure. They don't want another New Hope.

Option number one, please!
Nooooooo. You fool! You need this to survive! Do you have any idea how many Nikkes will be after your ass!?
Then what-

[Harem King]
Rare Trait
Lol. Commander is saved. He just won't ever realize.
your preffered partners are more attracted to you
That's basically everyone except some of the Heretics. It was happening either way, but at least they won't be at each others throats just because of some dating competition.
Bronz says that the Chaos Gacha will be updated soon to be a bit more complex
Keep going. There is no need to wait just because of some new entries and whatever else.
Eh, I've always thought the Chaos Gacha was way to repetitive between stories to be called anything "Chaos" myself, glad to see it updated
I'm pretty happy they are adding more. Lately nearly all the new CG stories I've been reading have all ended up with one or both of bitch breaker and harem king.

14. Control Center New
I end up behind Rapi, not due to slowing down, but because she and Anis sped up to take the lead positions. To be fair, I probably should not have been in the front of the group, where any ambush would have immediately taken me out. That does not make me unconcerned for their safety, and I immediately make sure View Air and Wind Alteration are in place. I scan the area around us, not finding any Raptures nearby in the air. Given that some of the monsters popped out of the ground earlier, I am not inclined to believe we are perfectly safe.

With that all said, I still need to share the other rolls I got with my team, as it is only right they know what I have available to work with. Also, Neon is staring at the right side of my face like she is decoding a hidden message on my skin. It is surprisingly uncomfortable.

"Jiiii."

"Stop that," I say, glancing sideways at her.

"Tell us."

I chuckle quietly at this, patting her shoulder reassuringly. "I am planning on it, calm down."

She leans closer, continuing to stare at my face. I stumble from her weight against my side, pushing her back so I can walk straight.

"Tell us."

"I will," I say, dodging her next attempt to bump into me.

"Commander, please tell her already, or she'll just keep this up," Anis grumbles at a volume I can still hear.

"Sure, sure," I agree, lifting up my arm. "So I think I told you about the Personal Information Processor, Pip-Boy for short, which is a computer on my wrist that monitors my health, maps the area, and can act as a flashlight. Oh, and it's got an internal fission battery."

I continue walking for a bit before realizing that their footsteps are quieter. A quick glance around confirms that Anis and Miyo have distanced themselves from me. Rapi is walking quite stiffly ahead of me, and Renamon keeps glancing at my arm. Only Neon does not seem perturbed. In fact, Neon grins eagerly at the thought of what is on my arm.

Unfortunate, but I am not going to remove such a helpful piece of equipment due to lack of comfort. Instead, I continue, gesturing to myself. "After that, I got a trait that lets me be in places I'm not supposed to, as long as I do not cause issues."

"Could be helpful," Anis calls over, still refusing to get closer.

"After that… I got an extremely loud metal pipe," I continue, my expression blank. "If you see me swinging a pipe around, please protect your hearing."

"Roger," Rapi responds, nodding once.

"Girls, when it's just us, you can be less formal," my words are said for all but directed to the strawberry blonde woman before me. "We're all friends here."

"More than friends," Neon corrects with a grin, making a motion as if signing a paper.

Oh, right, the contract. At least they are not slaves, because I would feel very uncomfortable with that.

While I'm glad you have enough conscience to disdain slavery, I'm wondering why that is in your memory above what a dog is.

Do not start.

"You saw a different trait of mine already," I continue, holding up the stick I used earlier.

"You make items stronger?" Miyo asks, tempted to walk closer.

"That's correct," I say to her with a smile.

"You make things unbreakable!" Neon cheers.

"No." I clear that misinterpretation immediately. "I add my stats to whatever weapon I'm holding."

"Like the stick," Rapi interjects, eyeing the walking stick I now have. "I suppose it's a good way to surprise enemies."

"Yeah, but you'll lose the element of surprise among a group of them," Anis points out, not bothering to turn around to make this observation.

"Ooh, what if it could be used for a gun?" Neon asks, her eyes sparkling in excitement. "Increase the firepower!"

"I don't know if it works that way," I admit. "It says for items I am holding, and neither of the examples were guns."

"So you aren't certain if the bullets will count since they leave your grasp once they're fired," Renamon muses, nodding once. "I can understand the concern."

Neon considers this for a moment, her face unusually serious. "So you're saying there's a chance…" Her face breaks out into a wide grin, and she throws a fist in the air. "Yea-!"

"Shush!" Renamon says, covering the white-haired girl's mouth. "You'll alert the Raptures!" I manage to hear a muffled apology before the disguised fox pulls her hand away. "Please continue, Commander."

"Right." I try to force Harem King out of my mind as I move to the one after that. "Apparently I can now give therapeutic hugs. That's about the gist of that one."

"Let me try," Renamon says, moving into my personal space and wrapping her arms around me. Flustered, I return the embrace, feeling her stiffen up momentarily before leaning into my chest, making an odd, cute little sound.

Trilling.

Is that a normal sound?

It represents when a fox is comfortable around a trusted human. Curiosity, relaxation, deep affection.

…are you reading that off something?

Nope!

That response was too fast to be natural. She stops responding, so I return my attention to my squad, practically jumping back when I realize Anis's face is mere inches from my own. "…may I help you?"

"Are you going to let go at any point," she says, her eyes narrowed and judgmental. Indeed, I see I am still hugging Renamon, so I quickly let go, getting a whine in response. Despite the cute pout on her face, I do not move to hug her again, so she reluctantly pulls away.

"What did you skip?"

I blink, turning back to the still-frowning blonde. "What are you talking about?" I try to offer her a small smile, but her eyes narrow further.

"You're doing that thing where you're hiding something again," Anis points out, a finger poking my chest. "Spill. We need to know everything so we can plan better."

"You're just nosy," my first familiar says, frowning at the woman beside her. "The Commander doesn't need to share anything. We're lucky he's sharing most of his rolls as it is!"

"That makes the rolls he hides even more suspicious!" The busty blonde frowns, crossing her arms. "He even mentioned that Golden Shot thing! So this must be much worse!"

"What is that?" Miyo asks, accidentally drawing the ire of the one who hates her.

"You can shut the hell up!" A finger jabs in the mass-produced Nikke's face. "You have no right to speak!"

"Hey." I grab Anis's hand and pull it away, frowning at her in disappointment. It must work, because she takes one look at me and immediately averts her gaze, chastised. "I don't care what you two think of each other, you keep it out of our operations. I will not have hot tempers putting your lives at risk."

"She started it!" Anis says, but I can tell even she finds the argument weak.

"How?" Miyo asks, cutting through her defenses with one word. "I don't remember doing anything to you. In fact, you were my idol." She pulls out her phone and starts playing the song that was her ringtone.

The blonde looks shaken, staring at the phone with a bewildered expression that says she would find it more believable if the phone started to dance. "I… but you…"

"Anis." She looks back at me, and I offer her a small smile. "We can discuss this later. Right now, I just want to be sure you're alright."

She blinks, furrowing her brow for a moment before sighing, pulling her arm free of my grip. "Whatever. I'm gonna ask you about those secret rolls later, though," she says, giving me a pointed look.

I just shrug in response. "You can try. I probably won't tell you though, as they're not really fit for discussing."

"What, you somehow gain a child?" She asks sarcastically.

"Of course not," I respond, bewildered by her guess. "Just because I have Golden Shot doesn't mean I can just randomly get a kid."

"Of course not," she responds with a small roll of the eyes. "It's not like you got other stuff that changes reality. Oh wait," she says, staring right at his walking stick, "you did."

"…I guess that's fair," I admit, embarrassed. "But no, I did not get a kid."

"Then I don't see what the issue is."

"Can we continue our mission?" Rapi interjects, her voice strained with annoyance.

"Of course. Sorry, Rapi." I nod to her and continue walking.

"Hey!" Anis whines, following after me. "I wasn't done guessing!"

"Sexy catgirl."

"No."

"Dragon mommy."

"Thank you for the compliment," Dragon responds from my Omni Phone.

"No problem," Anis beams, then goes right back to guessing. "Malevolent AI?"

"Listen, it's not an item or person, it's a trait, one that I am very uncomfortable talking about," I respond, stopping in front of a decently-sized building. "Can you please stop trying to guess?"

"No, but thank you for narrowing things down," she says, a cheeky grin on her face. "Mind controlling… eyes?"

"If I had those, I'd get you to stop asking about it," I deadpan, walking into the building, as that's where the map leads. There is a single room with no doors or windows, and the furniture is a mess from however long this place was deserted.

Shifty's voice comes through on the communication device. "We've arrived at the control room. Preparing to cut power." I hear her mechanical keyboard clicking once more. Does she realize that it is audible, or does she not know?

Rapi steps up beside me, holding out her hand with the palm up. "Commander, give me the CombiLink."

I blink blankly at her, not quite sure what she means. "What is that?"

Shifty pipes up, her voice unsure as though not certain why I do not know this. "Um… it's a device used to remotely control all sorts of machinery up on the surface." She pauses typing for a moment, and I can imagine her trying to figure out my lack of understanding. Eventually, she continues. "You see that little protrusion on your mobile? Pull that out. There will be a line attached to it."

I pull out my Omni Phone, turning it over in my hands as I try to find any part that protrudes. I eventually notice a little bump near the charging port and press on it, popping out a plug. I carefully pull on this part, and a line about one meter long appears. "Huh. Neat."

Our operator seems to sense when I found it, as she promptly continues, "Yes, that's it. Not plug it into the port of the machine you want to control."

I turn to the machine, eyeing the sleek surface for a moment. I reach out, my fingers trailing over the surface for any irregularities, and the tip of my pinky drops slightly into a divot. I pull it away and push the plug against it, watching as it sinks in and starts to sync with the machine.

Anis gives me that same squinting stare from before, and I feel mildly awkward. "Did you really graduate from the military academy?"

"I think I did?" I say with a small shrug.

"That port should've been seen immediately," she retorts.

"How?" I respond, pointing at the sleek surface of the controls. "It was practically invisible until I stumbled over it."

"The ports are always in the same spots," Rapi points out.

"Forgive me if this is the first machine I've had to interface with," I say, a little tired by this busy day.

The machine chimes, and I hear a beep from its hidden speakers. "The power has been shut off." Shifty informs us. "You can take the line straight into the city, now."

Rapi nods, turning to the door without any hesitation. "Let's go."

Neon, meanwhile, stands there looking around the control room. "Shouldn't we find a pair of rubber boots?"

Anis groans, putting a hand to her head. "Forget the stupid boots!"

I offer her a small smile, petting her head, but any words I would think of saying gets interrupted when Miyo calls into the building. "Raptures spotted!"

…shoot, I forgot to keep View Air up! "Counters Squad, get ready to fight!" I hurry out of the building to find a group of about fifteen husks. With a nod, I fling my hand out at the enemy. "Encounter!"

AN: Sorry this took a while, got caught on that first scene. Believe it or not, it was much harsher, originally.

Please let me know what you think, and I hope you all enjoy!

Just binged it. Pretty good read so far.

What has the world come to, that this has to be specified? 😑

[Butchers Bag of Infinite Meat]
This makes me think of something really gross. So gross that I'm gonna put it into spoilers.
Since it specifies Earth animals. Does that include humans?

Depending on how specific he can be with what is taken, he could, in theory, get specific organs and bits for transplants.

Would likely need some throught set up to ensure the meat came out in a sterilized environment. And rejection might still a issue. But still.

Would this really allow him to knock up nikkes? It's a common roll and it says nothing about partners that don't even have the necessary plumbing.

And on that topic
[Royal Beastkin]
Legendary Trait
Would this get passed down to his kids?
Holy shit, those rolls on chapter 6. Talk about kicking someone while they are down.

Between her, the super phone and the Arc reactor, Shikicum will be set for life after he get banished to the Shadow Realm Outpost. Multiple unlimited food glitches means he could survive there even if completely cut off from the Ark.

Give this lady a bunch robots to order around and she will create a bigger, better Ark by the end of the fiscal year.

Or hijack one of the Lost Sectors. Not like anyone is using those.

Assuming the way Marian's brought back doesn't change, this is gonna completely derail things when Burningum decides to be a problem.

This... Doesn't work with Raptures, does it? Otherwise Shikicum could just pull everybody into familiar storage and walk around the surface completely unbothered.

I do have one critique, tho. People having to sit down to hear what the commander just rolled gets very repetitive, very fast. Don't be afraid to summarize that bit from time to time.

Thank you for the compliment. Still working on the next chapter, so please look forward to that.

I'm not sure, but I was told it was up to interpretation? Not sure who to ask, so I'm saying yes.

Also the Gacha was updated, now it's any female, even if they are barren.

Would this get passed down to his kids?
Royal Beastkin and Newtype are ones I'm not certain about. Newtype is close enough to human I can say probably, but Beastkin is a bit more murky.

Holy shit, those rolls on chapter 6. Talk about kicking someone while they are down.
Yep. The Gacha has a sick sense of humor at times like this.

This a good idea. I've never seen anyone do something like this but the lost sectors were failed Arks weren't they? They should be brimming with stuff Dragon can use.
I'll be honest, I just speed ran everything from chapter twenty-seven to the latest chapter during this mini hiatus, and I didn't know that the Lost Sectors were actually part of the canon instead of just a gameplay thing.

Assuming the way Marian's brought back doesn't change, this is gonna completely derail things when Burningum decides to be a problem.
Yep. What's that? You're looking for Marian? She's not here at the moment. Good luck finding someone in another world.

This... Doesn't work with Raptures, does it? Otherwise Shikicum could just pull everybody into familiar storage and walk around the surface completely unbothered.
It's "as long as you don't offend", and humans are offensive to most Raptures, so…

15. Long Live Firepower! New
As it turns out, it is not just the husks. Two Lord Class Raptures pop up in the middle of our fight, and my only clue to their arrival was the feeling of the ground vibrating under one of their steps. I order Renamon and Neon to divert their attention, but they both surprise me by how well they hold off the large Raptures.

Renamon, while still jumping and dodging about the flying Rapture - not a good thing to learn about, an enemy that can fly - fires her diamond storm repeatedly. I don't know why she is not using the gun, but the magical leaves are actually damaging the Lord Class. I see shards falling off as the leaves shear off parts of the shell, while other leaves embed into the metal, disappearing with several slits left in their place. These are used as footholds as she launches herself into the air to stay engaged with the enemy.

Neon, meanwhile, goes with a different plan entirely, one that involves her shotgun firing slugs of a metal dense enough to punch right through the ground bound Rapture. She shoots off each leg that she can see, stopping it from retreating or repositioning itself. Then she strides closer, rapidly refilling her gun as it trains its sights on her. I nearly jump in to help when she fires her shotgun once more, an explosion of flame exiting the barrel and blasting off the enemy's mounted guns. Then she shoves the end of her shotgun against the glowing red light of the Rapture, rapidly emptying her weapon by relentlessly shooting. Gouts of fire fill up the metal chassis, heating it up until it is glowing red, and then the last shot comes out as buckshot, large pellets blowing out the back of the Lord Class, along with several parts and its broken core.

I quickly turn my attention back to Renamon, who rapidly kicks her own opponent with enough force to buckle the metallic shell. One last kick punches through, and she quickly disengages as the core explodes, sending the remaining Raptures into disarray. Letting out a sigh of relief, I instruct the squad to dispatch the last few foes as I take a moment to check for any new messages.

Nothing yet. Sorry.

Huh. That is rather odd.

Not really? It's achievement-based, which means that each level is more difficult to reach, and doing the exact same thing on a different day won't net you the same achievement.

Oh. I suppose it is good to know this now, before I become too dependent on rolls.

Commander, you realize that you're already pretty broken, at this point?

Am I? Is Royal Beastkin really that powerful?

Yes. Along with all the logistical stuff, the ability to reverse Corruption and Mind Switches, and the guarantee that your comrades will return to full health whether they're dead or alive!

…okay, that is a good point. What is a Mind Switch, though?

…shit, you aren't supposed to know about those, yet. Pretend you didn't hear that term, okay?

Any response I could have come up with is interrupted by Shifty's chipper voice. "Enemy neutralized!"

Anis sighs in relief as I turn my attention back to my friends. "That's a relief. Hey, Neon," she starts, getting a curious hum from the white-haired woman, "I was getting worried back there… you sure you didn't go a bit overboard with all those dragon's breath rounds?"

The girl in question simply beams, pumping her fist excitedly. "The bigger the better, that's what I say!"

"Bigger, huh?" The blonde shortstack frowns, crossing her arms. "Aren't you worried about being unbalanced?"

Neon's expression turns serious, and I nearly take a step back from the sudden change in her demeanor. "Let me tell you something, Anis. In this world, the only thing standing between us and the enemy is our weapons." She holds up her shotgun, as if making a salute to her weaponry. "If I end up not being perfectly balanced as a result, that's a risk I'm willing to take."

Anis takes a moment to consider her, then slowly nods, looking thoughtful. "I see."

Neon immediately drops any gravitas, smiling brightly as she clutches a hand to her chest. "All right, everyone, follow me." She throws her fist into the air. "Firepower wins the day! Hip hip hooray!"

Our favorite grenadier's expression immediately flattens as though a Rapture stomped on a can. "No."

Chuckling quietly, I start heading off towards where the train line is. Just because their antics are fun, it does not mean we should forget our mission.

Before long, Counters Squad ends up at a bridge over a deep drainage ditch, the tracks going straight across with no space on either side to walk. I use View Earth briefly, and note that there is no other way across within twenty kilometers of our location. "No other choice," I say, stepping onto the bridge.

The others quickly fall in step, though Rapi and Anis noticeably increase their stride so that they end up at the front of the pack about halfway across the bridge. I glance back to see Miyo standing in the back, hugging her submachine gun despondently. I grimace and turn to give her a hug, hoping that it will help her feel better.

Instead, I stop, eyes wide as something registers in my View Earth. "…get off the bridge."

Renamon looks at me, confused from my words, and yips as I pick her up and start running. My clothes start to strain as my body transforms mid-stride into my griffon form. "Get off the bridge!" I call as I run past Anis and Rapi, hurrying to the side closer to the power plant. My wings force their way out of my torn jacket once more, frantically flapping as I try fruitlessly to gain elevation.

Heavy footsteps thunder as my squad races after me, and it is only Anis's earlier words guaranteeing their safety that stops me from turning right back around to pick them up as well. As it is, I am running for my life, as that being I sensed gets closer to the deactivated controls. We near the other side as the figure places a hand on the same port I plugged my phone into, and I take no chances. I lunge for the concrete as a hum slowly builds in the air, and the others land heavily nearby. I turn just in time to see several beetles get fried, the rails coming back to full power in seconds.

I pant heavily, clutching my first familiar to my chest as I lay sprawled on my back. Still, duty calls, and I carefully sit upright, raising my hand as I count each member of my squad. Anis? Check. Miyo? Check. Neon? Check. Rapi?

…she lies face down on my lap. How was I not hurt?

Adrenaline mixed with increased physicality from your transformed state.

The question was rhetorical, but okay? I try not to focus on her chest pressing against my thighs as I set Renamon on her feet, but it is very distracting.

The line crackles as our friendly operator pipes up. "Is everyone okay? The rail suddenly gained power!"

"We're fine," I say, grunting as Rapi carefully gets off my lap, her face slightly flushed. "I'm really glad I realized someone was turning the bridge back on."

"Earth sense, right?" Anis questions, trying to brush off her jacket.

"View Earth, actually," I reply without thinking. "The range was just enough to catch someone walking into the control room."

Rapi straightens up, her gaze focused on my face as a frown forms on her own. "Do you think it was another Corrupted Nikke?"

"Come on," Anis dismisses, waving a hand in the strawberry blonde's face. "What are the chances of yet another Corrupted Nikke finding us on the surface?"

Neon looks at the three of us in some amount of concern. "…just how many of those have you come across?"

Renamon, still staring at the bridge in a daze, absently replies. "Three."

The white-haired girl's eyebrows raise in surprise. "Wow, that's impressive! Must have been a memorable year for you all!"

"That was just today," I gently correct her. "I only graduated yesterday from the academy."

Neon's eyes are as wide as dinner plates behind her red-framed glasses. "…just what is your luck, Shishou?"

"I'm not quite sure," I admit, scratching my cheek awkwardly. "Of course, if that was a Corrupted Nikke, wouldn't they have attacked directly like the last two?"

"Maybe they're growing more intelligent?" Miyo suggests, shrinking at the scowl from the former idol.

"That is possible," I admit, frowning slightly. "But if that's true, then that implies there's more going on than we realize…" Shaking my head, I carefully get back to my feet, glancing down at my spotless suit, then at my dusty squadmates.

Anis notices the difference, crossing her arms at me. "That is seriously unfair, Commander."

"If I ever get the chance to hand others a ticket, you'll get the next trait, okay?" I respond, shrugging and pointedly avoiding any mention of the Cursed Ticket. There is no way that I would subject one of my friends to a curse of any severity.

A small beep comes from my earpiece, drawing my attention as Shifty starts speaking once more. "Location of power station confirmed. You may proceed."

…I get the feeling that she is avoiding any mention of what we talked about. I should look into thanking her at some point for the discretion, and maybe practice some of my own in the future.

If this was the Gamer system, I'd be awarding you a Wisdom point.

What?

Nothing, I'm sure other people might get it.

Anis starts to speak, and I once more am thankful that my thoughts are moving faster. "Considering that place could be crawling with Raptures, we probably shouldn't just waltz in through the front door." She gives me a flat stare as she continues, "I don't want to crash a Rapture house party and end up as the entrée."

I grimace as I recall Black Smith and the intended use for the Nikkes it captured. Thank you Anis, I almost had that out of my head. Instead, I focus my attention on our operator. "Is the power station still in operation?"

"Roger." The familiar clacking of keys fills the comm link as she pulls something up. "Reports indicate that it resumed operation not long ago, although no one knows how or why."

Curious. I rub my chin as I consider this new information. "Is anyone in there?"

"Officially, there are supposed to be zero humans remaining on the surface." Officially? That is an odd choice of words. That makes it seem like the government either does not want to expend resources to do search and rescue, is that they are trying to hide something. Any further musing is cut off as Shifty continues. "We better expect the unexpected. We've attempted to investigate this strange phenomenon several times in the past." Several times since it turned on not long ago? Makes this sound more important than they first told us. Her voice gains a tinge of frustration. "But nothing came of it."

"Apparently we sent in a large band of troops before." Anis pipes up with a shrug. "They were surrounded by hordes of Raptures and got destroyed."

"…I'm willing to bet that a large number of troops wasn't exactly stealthy," I murmur quietly. "Probably detected them from miles away."

Shifty did not catch my words, as she continues, "Putting aside the possibility of potential survivors, the power station itself is of great significance." Clicking briefly takes over the line once more. "A power station of this size could supply electricity to all the facilities in the Ark for two months."

I turn to look at the large building in the distance, considering the cylindrical structure and comparing it to the Arc Reactor in my Item Space. I decide to not bring that up just yet, as I do not know if they would simply steal it from me. Maybe if I brought it up subtly to Andersen? Thoughts for later.

"In other words," Rapi says, snapping me back to the present, "this operation is of the utmost importance."

"That would explain the larger squad size," I say aloud, cutting off Anis accidentally. "Not to mention that it's still a small enough group to avoid immediate detection by the Raptures. Stealth where an overt show of force failed." Anis looks thoughtful at my words, so I suppose that I answered the question she had without knowing what it was.

Neon has a different question. "But how do we get in?"

I consider this question for a moment. Despite how obvious it seems, I feel like there is more to it than it seems. I speak up once more, this time speaking before Rapi does.

"If we were chosen to be sneaky, then there's no point in barging in the front door. That is how you lose people," I state, carefully pacing back and forth. "No, we need to take a different course of action. A course…" I trail off, straightening up and touching my comm link. "Shifty, are there any other entrances to the power station?"

Our operator sounds surprised by my question. "You want to sneak in?"

"Yes," I say, my resolve slowly strengthening. "I want an entrance that will keep us hidden."

"Well…" she sounds hesitant. "There is one way."

"Please lead the way," I request, smiling as a sense of relief hits me. I turn to Anis, who I notice is staring at me with a blank expression.

…it is not that strange to care, is it? That Commander in the Ark comes to mind, and I flinch as I recall the callous way he shot that poor girl in the head. Is that how the average Commander acts towards his squad? The very thought threatens to make me physically ill.

…I will become an example of someone who cares for his squad. If they see that we can accomplish great things together, surely things will be better.

Right?

AN: Apologies that this chapter took so long, I kept getting distracted reading other Chaos Gacha fics.

Also, the Chaos Gacha updated! Will be addressing that the next time he pulls a roll.

Thank you for reading, and please be sure to let me know what you think. Ideas and suggestions are more than welcome!

Have a nice day!
