Thematically, why would a conman has high on those rather than the rest? :v

    Alternatively, I could go with:
Bureaucracy, Larceny, Linguistics, Presence, and Socialize for Caste
Sail, Lore, Performance, Integrity, Investigation for Personal

Hmm.....the dots depend as much on background as concept. If he was born in the west then chances are he would have travelled a bit and picked up a few things.

It probably wouldn't be higher than 2 then.
Well, he's supposed to be ex-noble, maybe he took sailing as a hobby?
I need to put in the dots first though...

Yzarc, so you're going crafter, right? Are you going to get yourself familiars then? Because I took Twilight for their anima power. Specifically, the one where they can turn an E1~3 Elemental or Demon into a familiar.

I don't favor Survival so while I'll bind an Elemental it won't be more than that.

Nothing about my build is fixed though. I am tempted to get a Tyrant Lizard as a Pet/Meat shield......really tempted.

Alright. Is making Statues Craft (Wood) or Craft (Earth)?

Edit is it Craft (Air)? Because Air uses Decorative Items.

Depends on the material used, wood is craft wood, stone is craft earth, metal is craft fire. Craft air is delicate statues made of precious stones or glass.

Thanks Biigoh, also theweepingman how are you handling the charm Arete-Shifting Prana? With the house rules all crafts are now 2E so would I still be able to switch between them as per the Charm RAW?

I want to say yes, but I'm not sure. Hmm. For now, assume ASP only switch between Mundane and Essence craft. So, you can switch Craft: Air to Craft: Water, but not to Craft: Genesis, for example.

Thanks. Also to clarify as per 3E only the mundane crafts and the artifact equivalent are still....well crafts. Making new species and such are all Sorcerous workings now. So if it does not fit the 5 crafts of 2E then it can safely be a Sorcerous working.

Or thats what I got out of it. About the only thing I am sure of is that Genesis is workings in 3E.

    Background
Lily born was in Wu Jian slums. She joined the Tya as soon as possible to get the fuck out of the Wu Jian slums. She was trained by some Tya higher-ups as a mercenary marine (her mother still visited when possible, and supported her decision) due to her great talent.
Highlights of her mortal career include: drinking sailors twice her size under the table, repulsing pirate attacks (including one from a stolen trireme, where she looted her coat), putting down mutinies, getting her ass kicked by Dragonblooded when honor demanded that she fight one (she considers himself lucky that he spared her life)
Exaltation: A ghost ship attacked the ship she was aboard. she’d advised the captain to avoid that route through a small shadowland, but obeyed when the captain chose to take the risk. Everything was in disarray as the dead attacked, but the Mercenary stepped forward and tried to fight despite knowing it was useless. Then it turned out not to be useless. The other sailors, inspired by her example… were still mostly useless, but she kept her mouth shut about that. She thinks she managed to bring all of the attackers to true death, and she did impress upon the sailors that her Exaltation needed to be secret. (On the other hand, some might have managed to hide from her, and sailors are notorious gossips.)
Aftermath: She had a period at sea, and started taking regular doses of Tya drugs instead of one overdose like she once had. She never told anyone, and just switched the drugs. She also stepped up her usual training to what she could now handle. She has also begun looking for more difficult contracts, but her keeping her Exaltation secret makes it a bit difficult.

Ok Reworked Craft Char is here.

If you asked the people of his village about Clear Sky, their replies would include words like honest, hardworking, helpful and nice. The truth is Clear Sky is all of that yet not. An orphan, he grew up sustained by the charity of his fellow villagers. This imparted a great many lessons upon his young psyche.

Determined to make it big, he worked hard, cultivating his image as a hard worker, doing as much jobs as he could while secretly supplementing his income with his light fingers. In all fairness he only took from those who scorned him for his poverty and those who did not need it, but in truth he had little to no use of honesty, instead preferring to convince people to agree to his ends.

He sought all avenues to accomplish this goal. He accompanied the village elders on their supplications before the local spirits, using his good reputation and favors incurred. Thus, he slowly introduced himself to them, gaining their….not favor but regard. With such introductions done, he was introduced to the art of Sorcery. With such an opportunity before him, he was determined to master the Arcane art and become great.

However, this was not easy. Lacking expensive texts on the subject, teachers and needing many reagents for his experiments, his progress had slowed to a crawl. Thus faced with no other option, he took up work under a sculptor, working during the day and practicing what little he could during his free time.

His life was simple but good and it all first changed when he heard about a request from one of the local Spirits to humble Crimson moon. A warrior and martial Artist of no small prowess, she was the most premier and talented of their generation. Though they had grown up in the same village, they never had needed to interact, stopping only to exchange pleasantries.

The spirit had placed a bet that she would lose in a “contest of blades”, but no mortal taker had yet to best her. With the terminus of the bet closing fast, the spirit became desperate, offering Clear Sky a reward if he should best her. Faced with such a situation, he thought long and hard before finally agreeing.

Making his preparations, he challenged her to a fight. When she arrived at Dawn, she expected many things but what she did not expect as to be shown a block of rock and told to Defeat it. Angrily, she turned toward Clear Sky, determined to berate him for wasting her time only to be transfixed as he struck away at the Block of rock.

Though his movements were weak and clumsy, his skills as raw as they were, was without mistake. As day turned to night, the final blow was struck and his masterpiece was complete. The Statue was crude and rough but as they stood in the moonlight, it was to her a great work of art as was the making of it. Thus she admitted her defeat, declaring Clear Sky as the victor.

Their association would have ended there had she not been so determined to not to let such talent go to waste. Thus she forced herself into his life, guiding him and helped found an entire new style of Martial Arts resulting in their long friendship and then love resulting in their marriage.

But the brightest lights always cast the darkest shadows. Years after their marriage, their village was struck by a calamity. A monster had escaped from a hidden manse. The warriors of the village had gone out to fight it, Crimson Moon among them. Clear Sky wanted desperately to accompany his wife but she refused, going so far as to knock him out.

When he awoke, it was to the cheers of the people as the monster had been slain and the warriors returned with Crimson Moon not among them. If Clear Sky felt horror at that, it was nothing compared to the horror he felt when he asked about his wife only to be answered with confusion.

“Who is this Crimson Moon?” They asked. “You were never married.” They said. “Have you been drinking?” They wondered.

Rushing home to get proof, he was horrified to find that no trace of his beloved wife remained. It was as the villagers said. That the Woman called Crimson Moon had never existed.

Determined to find his answers, he rushed to the site of the battle and made his way into the manse. Against all logic, he made it to the center of the manse alive and with plenty of spoils. Any other time, he would have been overjoyed, yet it was all worthless in the face of the loss he suffered.

To compound it all, he felt himself slowly forgetting about his love. Already he could feel minor details slipping away from his mind. In sheer desperation, he walked into the heart of the Manse and dragged a massive block of stone. But he did not use the chisel, instead using the art that he and his wife and created.

Letting go of his grief and sorrow, he fixed an image of his wife in his mind and cut away at the stone. The end result was a masterpiece unlike any he had done before. An effigy of his wife, his love immortalized. With the final cut he ensured that he would never forget about her.

But that was not all. Though he had started the project as a Mortal, with the final cut, he had finished it as a Solar Exalt.

With the work done, he was relived, for he no longer forgot about his beloved. Yet his questions remained unanswered.

Thus, armed with the infinite radiance of the Sun at his call, he set out, determined to force the world to remember the beauty of his wife, so that he may break whatever curse that had befallen her.

In the Search for his wife, he underwent many trials and tribunals. The most important of which was how he met Wrathful Silk.

Tracking a Lunar Elder, whom Clear Sky had hoped would be able to give him insight into what had happened to his wife, he had instead found the Elder’s young apprentice.

A headstrong and prideful woman, Wrathful Silk had gotten into an argument with her mentor and in a fit of pure insanity, had declared to all present that she would hunt down and take the form of a Tyrant Lizard as her combat form. This was done during her coming of age ceremony and as such, she could not take back her words.

It was only later that she dearly regretted her words, but could do nothing about it. Inwardly worried, she was caught completely unaware as the young Solar stumbled into her abode and demanded things of her.

Yet they never came to blows as Wrathful Silk sensed the bond between them and they knew who the other was. Knowing well that they could not achieve their goals on their own, they bargained with each other long into the night before finally coming to an agreement.

Clear Sky would help Wrathful Silk to hunt down a fully grown Tyrant lizard as her boon companion along with any companions and forces he could muster and once done, she would lead him to her master and aide him in finding his wife.

Say, if I'm trying to convince someone else that I'm a (insert job here) what do I need to pass? Larceny, Lore, Performance or Socialize?

Manipulation+Presence or Socialize or even bureaucracy(Depending on the context of the scene for the abilities).

Technically you can use all 3 but out right lies is manipulation just as Complete honesty is Charisma and using looks is Appearance.

All 3 Social stats can be used for all Social actions. Here is an Example of how to use the 3.

To expand on the Ability side, Presence for individual, though you can eat a -3 to affect crowds.

    Performance for crowds.

    Socialize in a formal setting.

Bureaucracy is iffy but maybe usable in a market while haggling with a guy.

Ok, let's say I'm passing myself as a doctor, do I need to have some dots in Medicine/Survival to know some of the medical jargon or as long as my Man+(related ability) I can push it as I know it?

No need if you are just passing yourself as one. If you WANT to be one then yes. Otherwise Manipulation+Larceny to disguise yourself as one.

Having a dot or more in medicine means you ARE a doctor. Just not a good one if you have only one dot. Creation is around Iron Age so even having one dot kind of qualifies you as one.

As for languages, I'm thinking of grabbing Riverspeak, Seatongue, and High Realm
Nobles use High Realm a lot, right?

High Realm is what dragonblooded use in the Realm (when they want to be snobby?). Seatongue is good as we're in the West where most people should talk it, or a dialect of it. Riverspeak is spoken in the East, not sure how much use you'll get from it in this game. But who knows?

High Realm's probably a fairish bet for a 'trade' language for interacting with the Realm at least, IMO. Which is why Chiyoko knows it.

I thought Riverspeak is the common/English for Exalted?

Mantle of the Golden Sorcerer - Possesses a hearthstone socket.

    Shaping Ritual
The sorcerer may draw power from sunlight, gaining one sorcerous mote per turn he takes while the sun is fully visible. Cloudy weather which does not fully obstruct the view of the sun still offer some power, allowing him to gain (Essence x 2) sorcerous motes at the start of the scene, but not on any subsequent turns. If he has access to a Solar-aspect Hearthstone, he may gain an additional sorcerous mote per turn he takes regardless of the weather, but the motes gathered in this manner last for the duration of the scene.

    Intimacies
    • Freedom to pursue knowledge (Happiness) - Defining Tie
    • "I will master Sorcery and earn my title.*" - Defining Principle
    • "While ignorance is not bliss, there are some things better left unknown." - Major Principle
    • The Dead (Hatred) - Major Tie
    • Mantle of the Golden Sorcerer (Reverence) - Minor Tie
    • The Realm (Annoyance) - Minor Tie

    Background
Born in a nameless village located in the thresholds of the West, Nebulous Soul was one of the many students handpicked and taught by the Village Father in the local manse-shrine, who had a treasure trove of knowledge he has hoarded since the First Age.

But while his fellow students were content to devote themselves in intellectual pursuits, the boy had pushed himself to greater heights, caring for the various farm animals in his parents' care, practicing his swordplay, among other similar activities that hones his physical might.

He never liked socializing with others, preferring to instead relying on his good looks to get what he wants out of people when he has to.

But the relative peace ended when a horde of restless Dead attacked his village, led by a Ghostly Warlord hungry for more corpses to replenish his army of zombies, a circle of Liminal Exalted hot on said Warlord's trails.

The Village Father had aided the circle of Liminal Exalts in the battle to protect his village, bellowing for the helpless villagers to escape to the inside of his manse-shrine, which would protect them from the ensuing battle.

The plan would've work, if it weren't for the fact that the steps leading to the innermost sanctum of the manse-shrine - the only area that could shelter the villages, had been sealed through a form of arithmetic equation of the god's design, which must be solved with the god's blessings to reopen it.

Running out of time, Nebulous Soul pushed forwards among the crowd of scholars trying to decipher the Old-Realm equation, unable to solve the equation - they already had the Village-Father's blessings the moment he bellowed for them to seek sanctuary, but the array was still too complicated to be comprehended in the severity of their current situation.

It took minutes for Nebulous Soul to solve the cipher. Unaware or ignoring the golden radiance radiating from him, he led the frightened, but inspired villagers to the depths of the manse proper, which, for some reason, lack the defenses associated with them, despite the legends associated with said manse.

It is when they arrived at the core of the manse when they finally figured out the truth. A form of Manse spirit politely greeted them, floating in the air and welcoming them into the Solar-aspected manse, as well as congratulating Nebulous Soul's Exaltation from solving the complex equation - the nameless Village Father was once the god contracted to protect the manse for the predecessor of his Exaltation, and combined with his blessing, it has decided to allow the villagers inside.

But further explanations were derailed when Nebulous Soul grabbed the mantle enshrined at the middle of the shrine, and rushing out, feeling its call towards him ("Ah, youths these days," the manse-spirit had lamented).

When he emerged from the depths of the manse-shrine, mantle billowing behind him and anima at full might, it is to the sight of the Village Father and the Liminal Circle losing ground against the Ghostly Warlord, now revealed to be a weakened Nephwrack. The hearthstone clasped in the middle of the mantle glows bright, as the newly Exalted Twilight chanted, unleashing a swarm of obsidian butterflies upon the monstrous ghost, taking it by surprise (somehow), and further weakening it enough for the Liminals to send it to Lethe.

The next day, he and the Liminals part ways with the village, the former due to the Village Father's advice that the Immaculate Monks might investigate the strange occurrence of a golden pillar in the sky for traces of Anathema, while the latter leave to hunt for more of the restless dead to put to peace for eternity. (Well that, and he had been told to claim the Manse and its trove of knowledge within only when he had fully mastered Sorcery - the hearthstone and the artifact it was placed within was a freebie due to the circumstances of his sorcerous initiation.)

Now he wanders the land, both as a fortune teller, and as a sellsword for the occasion when The Dead are involved, and are hostile, with a magical eagle he gained from his mentors.

    Bonus Points (15/15)
    2 to Occult
1 to Lore and Melee each
    2 to Survival specialties
    3 to Mentor
    1 to Familiar - Sun-Touched Eagle
    4 to Perception
    1 to Medicine

    Notes
His mentors, due to the time spent reading and researching stuff, have specialties in many fields of Lore and Occult, as well as Sorcerous spells.
The title in question is the Golden Sorcerer of the Endless Circle - the minimum prerequisite is to learn Solar Circle Sorcery.

There are Craft Charms that let you pull an Emiya if you are interested.

Words-as-Workshop Method - It basically creates artifact tools for one task that gives bonuses or Evocations as determined by the ST. Key word here being TASK. Limited to Craft, Lore, Medicine, Occult, or Investigation. So you can;t make a sword for a fight and so on. But it has a Evocation ready to use if you want it or gives you other bonuses like extra dice etc.

Riverspeak is canonically the 'trade language' because Guild, and the Guild makes no fucking sense. To be blunt.

In a period that early on tech-wise, it doesn't make real sense for there to be a Creation-wide 'trade language'- and to the extent there is one, it's going to be a Realm language.
