That's what I did with my current one. It wasn't a bad experience? But, it was nerve-wracking dealing with potentially breaking a $500 component and then troubleshooting everything afterward. Not really sure I'd want to do that again when I'm at the point where I can spend a bit of extra money and not need to worry about it.Wouldn't it be more cost effective to just buy the parts and update your own PC? I know there are people who find that scary, but if you are willing to put in the time, make sure the parts work together on PC part picker, and check a YouTube tutorial, I think most amateurs could do it.
But, again, I don't actually need a new computer at this point and my self-control is (unfortunately) good enough that I can resist an impulse buy like this.
