also, did anyone remember that Las has power armor that is pretty fast and agile, and that is without a ton of research since we last saw them. Imagine Vader gets those plans to make a faster more powerful suit for him to wear

Vader is one of the guys in the setting who really doesn't need power armor. With the force he is as strong as he needs to be whenever he wants to. That he would need mechanical enhancement could easlily be considered insulting. To the point where he might take offence at the mere suggestion.

A lot of the troopers that were good enough to be transferred to under his command later on were ones he actually protected...same reason why the majority of his forces remained as Clones until they were having physical issues in Legends, and that a good portion of the 501st knew or at least heavily suspected who Vader was.

Hell, one of the planets in the Vjun system (the same system where Bast Castle was on the uninhabtable one) was habitable and one that was almost entirely populated by clones that Vader sent there if they were to injured or having aging issues along with several hand picked medics and similar to help them.

Legends Vader was exceedingly loyal to the competent men under him, and to the people he sponsored if they weren't intentionally a mess for him to clean up...such as him mentoring Kharys and a few others...and the lengths he went to in order to save Shira's life, though that ended up with Lumiya later on that Luke had to deal with.
 
Could Vader even pilot the Tie Whirlwind? I meant, the thing does not have life support, and Vader may not be able to attach a pilot life support haness to his mask, unless he has some kind of custom helmet/Life support adaptor laying around just in case he wants to pilot a regular Tie starfighter??

It's also kind of how things worked in X-Wing and TIE Fighter games, you could dump full power into engines and your capability there skyrockets, but you're losing your guns and shields...as well as other systems in the process.

The old novels also have things where you could use overrides to include power from things like life support which became a thing in the first book of the Black Fleet Crisis with Tuke Tuketu putting everything into thrusters to manage interplanetary travel to warn another planet in system even if it almost killed him after the Yevethans raided his homeworld and even then his TIE Interceptor was nearly dead by the end of it because of it and he spent a weeks recovering from it before, temporarily, joining the New Republic fighter forces for most of the remainder of the conflict

Random Theory-Crafting: Imperial Flavors Post-Unity

Intro
So I have been thinking about Imperial politics, specifically after Endor with the Emperor dying. It is probably going to be much more interesting since it appears we are heading towards an even more disunited galaxy and Empire in the Post-Unity era than in canon or legends. As galactic unity becomes a more distant possibility, all these squabbling Imperial breakaway states are going to start to find their own identity and define themselves.

Funnily enough I can see the previous Imperial departments and divisions mattering less as the Empire collapses further and further. It doesn't matter too much what department you were with to your fellow Imperials when that department collapsed along with the Empire. Especially with Palpatine no longer pushing those divisions and interdepartmental hatred. Of course Rebels and other Anti-Imperial forces probably care very much what you used to do for the Empire, but what proper Imperial considers what they think? This is going to leave room for new divisions to form, but I think these divisions are going to be a bit more coalesced and natural than the artificial ones imposed and encouraged by the Emperor.

I can see three main… let's call them Philosophies emerging in the Post-Unity era. I can't call them factions because they aren't that united, and I can't call them religions since it is doesn't really deal with the spiritual. Either way I can see the various Imperial states generally falling into one of three categories in their state and preferred flavor of governance. Emerging Post-Unity Imperial states may mix Philosophies a bit by necessity and circumstances, but I can see most individual Imperials subscribing to a primary Philosophy they agree the most with. These three general Philosophies of Imperial rule I see emerging are Camp, Court, and Civil.

Camp
Camp style Imperial states are fairly straightforward. They are your military turned warlord states. Those that see their territory as a place to occupy and extract resources to maintain and expand their military for future battles and conquest. Obviously the military and its leader hold primacy in the government with the civilian administration and politicians beholden to those who hold military power.

This Philosophy's primary supporters are going to be the Imperial military and its remnants with all the firepower and prestige that provides. The Traditionalists, the Patriots, and the Dead-Enders, all gathering to those who can assure them The Cause is not yet Lost. They are also the most likely to advocate for and conduct anti-Rebel/Republic operations Post-Unity, either conquest or more likely just punitive raids. Actual progress matters less than giving off the appearance that they are still fighting for The Cause and "proving" that The Cause is still worth fighting for. Jingoism and patriotic propaganda are the pillars of a Camp state's society more than any of the other Philosophies.

Some of you may have figured out something by now. The specifics of The Cause the Camp state is killing millions for whether it is to save the Empire, avenge the Empire, destroy the Rebels, install the Camp leader as a new Emperor, etc, doesn't really matter. If the Camp state can maintain its internal integrity and its leaders can retain their authority, then The Cause is serving its purpose.

Court
Court style states are bit more complicated. They are where the politicians and nobles rule. Those who held court or who gained influence by attending parties and schmoozing with high class people. Those that might yearn for the times when the Imperial Senate was still in "control" of things and they had the pick of the Galaxy's excesses brought to them on a silver platter. This also includes the followers of such people, whether as members of their entourage or supporters who attend the charismatic individual's rallies and cheer when they spout whatever ideology or issue they support or oppose this week. Cults of personality are going to be common in Court states. The territory they secure is to be exploited to maintain and enrich the lives and bank accounts of the upper classes. The people and the resources are there to maintain the splendor of the Court and enable the scheme of its Players. The military and civilian administration is expected to follow the whims of "their betters" as they are the most "in touch" with the nation's goals and desires.

Plenty of Moffs and Governors turned their administration into noble courts or never ending parties before Endor and Post-Unity they may try to keep doing the same. I can also see the Imperial politicians from the Core also attempting to set up a Court style government Post-Unity. The favored governance style is ones where politicians can flex their influence the most, the public facing structure of who is in charge matters little. So senates, political parties, committees, backroom deals over whisky and spice, Big Fancy Banquets with Decorative Dancers. The works.

This is the Philosophy that is probably going to attract the most support from megacorporations of the three. Those same systems of governance that let politicians spread their influence tend to let corporations lobby the easiest as well. Some of the Court states may be outright bankrolled by the corps so the corps can "hold" territory in an uncertain galaxy without making themselves a target. Come to think of it, Syndicates would probably also enjoy being "friends" with Court states in order to have a captured market to sell their vices and conduct their specific brand of morally dubious operations. Also Dark Siders. Palpatine's little Sithlets would thrive in the drama, intrigue, and building of personal power bases inherent in Court states.

Civil
Civil style states are those rare states where the civilian administration wins the initial struggle for internal supremacy. Those that believe the Imperial government and its administration worked just fine if the military jarheads and brainless politicians weren't mucking everything up all the time. Their territory is to be administrated as efficiently as possible and its people should be good little cogs for the bureaucracy so everything can run smoothly. Everything will go so much better if the politicians and the military just follow the Civil's well-researched 2 hour powerpoints and submit the right paperwork in triplicate on the relevant matter. Basically the equivalent of Imperial legalism.

Imperial bureaucrats are likely to be the biggest proponents of this Philosophy. Unfortunately efficient bureaucracy and keeping the ships running on time isn't as impressive and capable of garnering influence as military shows of force or politicians giving grand speeches. So I can see the Civil Philosophy being rarer among those in power and at the highest level of governments. Still, they are the most efficient and are likely able to budget and utilize what resources they do have better than the other two Philosophies.

These are the types most likely to build a System that outlasts the death of the builders. Where the other two Philosophies are going to aim for more immediate power for the leader or immediate riches for the upper classes, Civil states are more likely to aim for long term growth. Provided an Imperial rival who is more charismatic or has a bigger military doesn't come along and crush them while they are still in the initial set up stage given they are relatively more vulnerable than the other two Philosophies at that time. Which is likely to happen in most cases as an entrenched and successful Imperial Civil state is likely to be the biggest threat to other players in the region long term, Imperial or otherwise.

Conclusion
I feel like the roots of these three Philosophies have always been lurking on the background of Imperial society and government. One can see it in how the various Imperial leaders conduct themselves after being given relative autonomy and power over others. The coalescing of these Philosophies could never fully occur while the Emperor was alive. He would Force Choke these Philosophies like a baby in a cradle before they could become a potential threat to him and the tenets of his New Order. However with the Emperor gone and the shackles of conformity loosening, there is room for these ideologies to get time in the spotlight and coalesce into something more structured and prominent. Even if it will be more decentralized with the Empire breaking apart.

This is just a little thing I whipped up. A pondering about the future in the GG timeline that may or may not be on the mark. Might do more if I feel like doing another thought exercise.

Vader is going to be pissed when he finds out that all of Myto's goodies have been shoved into the corner of Imperial requisitions, which is why he's yet to see any of the improved variants of even the most basic equipment in the Empire's arsenal like the TIEs. The Myto TIE variants are functionally superior, but are region locked because they cost slightly too much, and they don't fit the Tarkin Doctrine model nor the standard Imperial military model of pilots and craft being expendable.

Vader, while not being the most likable guy, is all about competence, and resuming the hunt for the Rebels as soon as possible. All of Myto's equipment is effectively designed to do just that by making maintenance and repairs easier while minimizing the logistics train to build and repair them, and the use of automation and redundancy make them easier to crew and survive with the added benefits of some modular systems that can change depending on the role. Vader hates waiting and incompetence of his officers. For him to learn that not only is Myto's Moff competent, which considering who he normally has to deal with says a lot, and has been producing excellent equipment designed to fight pirates who operate in similar fashions to the Rebellion, which has been region locked by dipshits in the requisitions instead of being distributed effectively.

I cannot imagine Vader not being thoroughly pissed once he has the opportunity to see Myto's products in action. The fact Las is also fully invested in removing slavery in his sector is just a cherry on top of the pie of valued equipment.

On the other side of the coin. The Rebels, while not being thrilled about seeing Myto variant equipment being used by Vader, probably has a much better understanding of just what they're capable of and the limitations behind those variants, because they were part of the reason the Myto variants remained region locked to begin with. Sure they didn't want to go up against them, but they knew they would eventually. Plus with how undisturbed they have been in the Myto sector, they've had ample opportunity to see them in action and understand how to fight them thanks to the constant pirate activity. So while the Myto equipment will absolutely suck for the Rebels, they can most certainly handle it.

To be Fair, If someone can get all the experimental cutting edge tech on his personal starfighter, that's Vader. Would he even consideer exchanging his prototype Tie advanced costumized for him for an stock outer rim Tie fighter variant? He would be trading the Hyperdrive and life support system away for more firepower, And since he's Vader, I'm not sure the whirlwind is an upgrade for him, He really doesn't need overwhelming firepower when the force is his ally.

His own ride is one of a kind, slighty faster than the Whirlwind, but the whirlwind is a great production model to request for regular pilots. He may replace the fighters in the executor for those... but if he really wanted, he could request the manufacture of entire wings of Tie advanced prototypes like his own for his flighmates.

On the bad side, due to Imperial elitism and those being Outer Rim products only, Even with compatible parts, Maintenance would be harder, and there is a good chance that imperial supply would drag their feet in servicing those.

Vader is enough of a mechanic to simply fuse the two crafts together with little to no loss of performances from either end.

Ancil Automatons' GN-T44L Domestic Droid is a class three service droid designed around preforming chores around a small home. GN-T44LS are cheaper than more expensive and specialized models and are marketed as an accessible option for poorer demographics. The model have been met with some success as a time saving generalist option, especially in a relatively underpopulated and high employment sector such as the Myto Sector.

Design

"Ugh, GN-T44Ls. Vapid bolt heads that can only perform basic functions." - A C-3P0 unit when asked about a passing GN-T44L.

GN-T44Ls are designed with a budget conscious consumer in mind. Ancil's designers built the chassis mostly out of simple, off the shelf parts. This service droid contains two upper limbs and two lower limbs in addition to metal plates making up a "skirt" around its lower limbs for ease of cleaning. This skirt can bend along with the legs should the droid need to interact with something on the ground. The use of weaker than average parts left the GN-T44L being only twice as strong as the average human and more vulnerable to damage from things such as being hit by a speeder going above forty kilometers per hour than an equivalent droid.

The droid brain was also of a similar quality in order to save on costs. A GN-T44L can translate and understand a mere 100 of the most common languages in the galaxy upon activation. There is also a space to download an additional 10 languages for the specific owner's preferences. This was justified in design by the GN-T44L being meant to work in a small domestic environment and not need to interact with very many sentients.

The main focus on quality was directly mostly towards the GN-T44L's manipulators which were designed and built in house. Ancil Automatons took a bold risk of not including any in built tools into the service droid's design. Rather they focused on making the droid's manipulators dexterous enough utilize tools and appliances on the same level or better than organics. A GN-T44L's can mimic five, four, three, and two fingers as needed for a tool. This general manual dexterity would be the main selling point for the GN-T44L over its more expensive and more specialized competitors. While the need to purchase separate tools was seen as a downside, the ability for organics to utilize the same tools as their droid if needed was viewed as reassuring by Ancil's more working class customer base.

Programming

A GN-T44L's programming is quite rudimentary by service droid standards. The fairly simple and cheap code design geared more towards sorting and performing simple functions rather than extrapolating or independent actions. This gives a GN-T44L very limited autonomy and capacity for critical thinking. They prefer having their directives and duties clearly spelled out by their owners and try to follow them to the letter. The droid can go beyond exact instructions if necessary, although it will always default to attempting to ask for clarification first before trying to go beyond the bounds of its instructions.

The most impressive bit of programming comes from the GN-T44L's tool use functionality. The droid brain of a GN-T44L contains an Instruction Manual Database or IMD. When a GN-T44L is assigned a task or the time for scheduled routine task comes, it will consult the IMD, find the appropriate instruction manual, then preform those exact instructions to the best of its ability with what the droid has on hand. If a GN-T44L encounters a task it cannot complete or an appliance it does not have a manual for, the droid will attempt to contact its owner for further instructions. If told to attempt the task again, it will consult the closest approximation of the appliance or task, then attempt to perform those instructions, with varying degrees of success.

An IMD contains the instruction or operating manual for tens of thousands of tools and appliances as well as basic instructions for household tasks. Most of these manuals are for appliances from either the IGCPP, the most common galactic brands, or more recently the BGES. There does exist an amount of free space for additional manuals to be downloaded. Given most appliances come with an instruction manual or it can be found on the HoloNet, it is easy to adapt a GN-T44L to the home it resides in if the owner takes the time to familiarize the droid with its surroundings.

Personality wise GN-T44Ls are often described as dull, dry, and not much for conversation. They typically only discuss work or their duties with their owners and fellow droids while keeping conversations as short as possible. When left for a long time without a memory wipe, GN-T44Ls develop a dry wit and a tendency to bemoan all the work they perform for their owner when not in earshot. This manifests in a tendency to complain to fellow droids or mimicking a long suffering dramatic sigh when non-owner organics pass by. These personality quirks do not impact their work ethic and they will perform their duties with the same efficiency as their first day off the lines.

Conclusion

"Any accusations of GN-T44L being used as assassin droids are completely baseless! I heavily encourage owners to review the IMDs in their droids to prevent such an unfortunate occurrence from repeating itself." - Ancil Automatons' CEO responding to a scandal after a high-profile attempted smothering incident involving a wealthy businessman's pet Manka Cat cub and a Conform-couch.

The GN-T44L Domestic Droid represents a side grade to other similar models. While it has a cheaper initial price tag, the Credit cost for all the tools it needs to preform its duties brings it up to a similar price range. The main difference is whether one wants to retain the ability to perform those chores on their own and if one wants to go through the effort of writing down and updating a list of duties for the droid. For those of not possessing idle wealth and a willingness to pick up the slack, this difference is a determining factor often enough to keep the GN-T44L selling and in production.

Figured with the growth in wealth in the sector and that wealth actually being distributed to common folk, it was time for a new droid. Sometimes the answer isn't making a product smarter, it is making a dumb product more efficiently. Modeled after that one servant those in genteel poverty in fiction seem to maintain. A droid to do the chores and other household duties wouldn't be amiss in a Sector on the rise where jobs sometimes outnumber job seekers. Also with the lack of population, the decline in popularity of slavery or forced service, and rise in wealth, metal is likely to be more popular than flesh for the servantry.

Which really goes to show how cheaply made and not intelligent the GN-T44L is. A GN-T44L and a B1 are intellectually in the same bracket and just as prone to failure when left unsupervised, uninstructed, or over-instructed for too long. The main difference is the potential fallout given the GN-T44L is being used as a glorified appliance and chore monkey rather than a soldier fighting in a galactic war like the B1.

A B1 has to keep track of friend and foe identification, aiming a blaster, keep feet stable, keep hands stable, monitoring environmental conditions, receiving constant orders from droid commanders, etc. If the situation suddenly changes like a Jedi showing up and breaking physics? That B1 is going to overload its cheap droid brain trying to process this sudden change in circumstances and begin mentally and physically flailing to come up with what's it's supposed to do next. Meanwhile a GN-T44L typically does a task it has done hundreds of times before and has one to several dozen clearly defined pages of instructions. It then moves on to the next task, then onto the next on a defined schedule and list in the same location day in and day out. This means GN-T44L's typical mental load and strain is much lower than a B1 in the middle of a battle, so the failure rates are also lower.

For instance, further investigation into that scandal in the Conclusion quote found that the owner of that particular GN-T44L had given the task "shove Miss Flufflepuss in my face so I can feel her love." The GN-T44L droid then pushed the Cat into the owner's face. Unfortunately the Conform-couch the owner was lounging on was new and much softer than the previous couch in the room. When the GN-T44L droid wasn't getting the same resistance from the couch it was used to when it last performed this task, the droid determined it wasn't pressing hard enough. This led to the droid pressing Miss Flufflepuss into the owner's face harder and harder until said smothering occurred. It wasn't really the GN-T44L's fault, it just wasn't the brightest bulb in the socket and neither was its owner for giving such a stupid order.

I based the pricing on the SE-4 Servant Droid and was inspired by its use of Skill Modules to download new skills. Ancil Automatons just made a cheaper droid with a more centrally connected database to draw from to take advantage of Myto's high HoloNet infrastructure.

I watched out the window of the MARD as the last Acclamator-Class ship jumped to hyperspace.

It wasn't a standard Acclamator. Its internal bays had been reconfigured to house administrative staff and facilities. Extensive crew facilities, server bays, communication systems and more.

It was in effect a mobile space station. A mobile hub of coordination.

Not for me, no. I'm perfectly fine where I am now. No, this was for a project I'd been working on for a while.

See, running a sector was hard work. There were already a million things I had to manage at all times. And with my time increasingly taken by larger scale projects and out-of-sector diplomacy, I couldn't keep splitting my attention.

So, subsector hubs. Each ship would host hundreds of administrators, tax experts, and more. Their job would be to settle disputes between Governors, collect taxes, administer the tax code, and coordinate infrastructure projects.

That last part was especially important. Just creating a sector wide project wasn't enough. One had to properly implement it across all subsectors. Having these sub-capitals would help immensely.

"The fleet is already stretched thin. Are you sure of this?"

Ife was at my side for the event.

"No, but I'm running out of options. The sector is growing too quickly. If pressure isn't relieved, it'll create a myriad of problems."

And wasn't that the truth. Sure, the sector growing quickly was incredibly news. More immigrants streamed in from across the galaxy by the day. As the Empire got harsher and the civil war got hotter, people sought refuge.

If they couldn't afford the Core or safer parts of the Mid-Rim, then the Myto Sector was one of the few places in the outer rim considered nice to live in.

This came with problems.

Colonies were expanding far ahead of schedule. Cities were filling as soon as we could build them. I've started approving the purchase of pre-built space stations because there just aren't enough homes or infrastructure in many of the newly built, quickly growing colonies.'

And this was all without mentioning the larger projects. There were multiple concurrent programs in place to increase things like quality of life, medical production, industrial capacity, transit capacity, and more.

None of this was easy to manage, and while I could continue to expand my own capital administrative staff, that created far too much of a centralized location of power. It created bloat. If everything has to run through one single place all the time, that place gets slow.

And if things got slow, things started to go wrong. And that sort of stagnation compounded until it was impossible to fix.

As for why they were mobile? Well, the Governors were on average a lot cleaner now. But I still didn't trust most of them. After all, most of them were just cleaning up their acts, instead of being people I trusted from the start. If I made one system the capital of each subsector, that system would undoubtedly gain unparalleled power and prestige they could use as political weight.

"They won't be as well protected as planned. If they get targetted…" Ife's concern was real. The Acclamator-class was no slouch in combat, but it wasn't built to brawl either. Its primary escorts were mostly frigates and light cruisers, such as the Raider or Nebulon-B. Solid ships, but for such important vessels it wasn't enough.

"I know. But as things are, I can't avoid having them. For now, they'll stick near better defended systems, and only move when extra forces can be spared by system defense fleets to escort them. However, I can't delay this project. Already as the sector expands and projects become larger, we're seeing failures, delays, and compounding errors. If this continues to get worse, we could start seeing major problems."

Like smuggling, which was already finding a new niche to fill. Immigration was booming, yes, but it was easier get in if one had prior work experience in a field we were looking to expand. Medicine, for example, was at the top of our list.

But not everyone has such experience, and doesn't want to, or can't wait. So, they pay smugglers, and get smuggled in.

Sure, I could tamp down on immigration to slow things down. But that would only create a larger smuggling market. Right now, I had a fair grip on the underworld, reigning in the reasonable and eradicating those who wouldn't play ball. But if enough people got desperate to get in, smuggling would explode and a hundred new rings would pop up.

And that would create a million new problems.

"Coaxium profits have left up solidly in the green. I can release more into the naval budget for mercenary contracts and ship purchases." I replied. The Mando's weren't great at escort work, but there were countless more in the sector who did great at it.

Ife scoffed. "Trying to buy a warship right now would be near impossible. HIGHCOM is throwing everything they have at the Rebels, even if they don't want to say it." Her eyes slid from the window to my own. "Speaking of HIGHCOM, have they sent word about the Hubs replacement Admiral?
I sighed, rubbing at my temples in frustration. "All the people they'd trust with the assignment are out on other duties. And given Dionhar's treachery, that list is quite small and not budging any time soon. In the meanwhile, I've been given commanding authority over it."

"I see…" Her reply was quiet, and as I looked over at her, she seemed almost…anxious? What the hell? This wasn't the career climbing Admiral I knew?

"...Sir, I just wanted to ask–I know it's inappropriate given the chain of command and everything–"

No shot. No fucking shot. Did Ife Veers have a crush on me? This couldn't be happening. I meant that literally, this could not be happening! She was too good at her job, too vital to the sector! But still, I can't say yes, that would make things worse. Fuck, I've got to somehow reject her and get her to stick around!

"–but I just wantedtoaskifitsalrighttodateyoursister!?"

"Absolutely n–" I pause for a second. "Wait, waitwaitwait, what do you mean date my sister? Which one?"

She couldn't seem to meet my eyes, which was extraordinarily strange for her of all people. Her cheeks were a shade of red I wasn't sure was possible, much less healthy.

"S-Shal, Sir. I know she's a subordinate but she isn't under my command, and there's just this spark of sorts and it's not anything yet but I just wanted to check–"

I raise my hand, and her mouth clacks shut at an impressive speed to stop the flood of words. I sigh. "Look. You're not in the same chain of command. So long as you keep it private, stay effective, and avoid any scandals, I don't care."

Maybe it'll get Shal to stop pestering me to go out on a family rendezvous or whatever.

Clifcor sighed in relief as he sat down on the bench, the heavy zero-G suit hissing as the seals opened and he tasted the Rings air.

Still recycled, like the suits, but less so. To him, it might've well been a fresh summer day breeze.

From a storage compartment below the bench he retrieved his lunch. A nutri-pack and energy drink. He could afford more, sure, but his break was shorter now than it used to be. He didn't have the time to eat anything more.

The Ring had been working overtime for a while now. Ships were being built on tighter schedules, workers pushed harder for the same or even lesser pay.

"Hey there. How done are ya?" To his side, he saw another worker, Sernat he remembered, sitting down.

His eyes found their way to the window, beyond which sat the hulking form of a half-built star destroyer.

"About halfway. Parts shipment got delayed again."

Sernat sighed in frustration. "Same. Just got started on this Bellator when we had to stop because they only sent us half the wiring! What a mess…"

Clifcor nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it's bad out there. I hear the rebels are hitting supply convoys all the time. It's why all these ships are being rushed out. For patrol duty."

"See, that's what doesn't make sense" exclaimed Sernat, waving his nutribar like a lecture stick. "If they wanted patrol ships, they'd build patrol ships. We could've pumped out three whole Raiders in the time it took us to put the Bellators frame together!"

"Well, you know how the military is," Clifcor shrugged. "They want big ships with lots of guns. Hell, just last week the future captain of the ISD we're building came by to demand we add extra guns!"

"Yeah, a total kriffing disaster. Didya hear their even pulling ships from the system defense fleet? Apparently some rebels hit Mardona and Najan-Rovi, and there aren't enough ships anywhere else."

Clifcor scoffed. "And we end up paying for it. Bet they'll toss another hundred orders of ships, tell us to make em by tomorrow, and be mad when they take months."

"Like they always do."

He nodded. "Like they always do."

huh. I guess being in the outer rim and specializing in local designs let him avoid getting midna shipyard production being yoinked by the imperial military, since he can still order the production of his mobile paper pusher starships...

But If the main starship docks are busy, the output of his starship docks becomes more attractive...

I guess it won't be long until some bigshot will try to dictate what the shipyard builds and where the output of the shipyard goes... (I guess he could invoke Vader name wanting local manufactured starships as a shield)
