Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

Humanoid ant style hives.
Like the Ranchi from mass effect, but humanoid. Like these guys.

Their history being that they've had to evolve while being preyed upon by an apex species that they then wiped out.
Then turned to farming and herding beasts, like Nerfs.

The scythe-like arm could function as both a weapon and a tool for harvesting crops, as well as processing the meat and fur off their herd animals.
And pretty helpful for acting as a wood axe, for easier construciton of buildings.

so is he gonna use the Lucrehulk as a space station until he builds a more modern imperial base? cause i can see him stripping the engines off and perhaps use a a cargo exchange/customs station , where large ships unload and small craft then move the goods planet side would give more control on what ship enters atmosphere.

Aye, I'm gonna get over myself and say just put some Sith on there.

Like, I mean Sith Purebloods, like the Human looking ones. Maximize the Tanya effect by having Las do some weird shit that gets them loyal or something.

Which is an oxymoron 'cause, to my knowledge, Purebloods are just as backstabby and sithly as any other Sith. I think.

now here is me hoping he can capture the gold plated ship
its "gold-painted", not "gold-plated". The pirates are so scuffed they cant even afford to plate their ship enterior gold, even when its abundant.

I want to know what kinds of natives you want to see on Minda 2. I have yet to decide, so any submissions for culture, appearance, unique traits/artifacts/abilities are all the more likely to be taken into consideration.
Some kind of insects with tribal-level tech. Like ants but scaled up. You dont even need to go think about it - just plop them down on hellhole and you have several species which can pottentionaly survive on New Katachan. Ofc those same ants would be very glad to be relocated to planet where they are the apex-predator, instead of mid-game creatura. Hm... Like mantises from FTL.

With that finished, I got a question for y'all. While it's still a ways away, since the Pirate Arc is still in it's beginning stages, I want to know what kinds of natives you want to see on Minda 2. I have yet to decide, so any submissions for culture, appearance, unique traits/artifacts/abilities are all the more likely to be taken into consideration.
Various suggestions, feel free to cherry pick if you want any:

This species is called the Bleats in galactic standard. The Bleats get their name from the loud and obnoxious bleating noise they make when driven to distress and hopelessness in order to warn the rest of their community of danger. Apparently the Bleats' first encounter with Imperial Explorers was very distressing for them, to the point the attending Chronicler misinterpreted it for a war cry initially.

This species began as a prey species and stayed as a prey species during its climb to sapience. They have never moved up from the position on the food chain despite their advances in technology and culture. This shows in the evolution of their society which is dedicated to the avoidance of conflict and danger.

This species survives by being nomadic cave dwellers. When the resources in their current ancestral safe haven run out, they make mad dashes through the lethal jungles to another ancestral safe haven. Ancestor worship is common in gratitude for passing down safe trails and colonizing the caves.

Some of the built up defenses in these safe havens have noted to be far beyond the technical capabilities of the current generation of natives. This is unsurprising as this is Star Wars, can't go 10,000 years without a civilization wrecking event hitting your planet.

A fairly dour culture centered on cyclical apocalypses bringing about new ages, one for every time a fresh horror devastated the tribes, on account of living on a death world. Of which colonizing "Void Peoples" will be seen as heralding the start of a new apocalypse. Focus placed on communal survival and status based on one's contribution to the tribe.

The honored roles in society are pathfinder and multipack carrier. Being able to secure safe routes and survival for the tribe as well as safeguard its resources during migration are seen as essential roles in the community. Multipack carriers also have a special pack for carrying children too young to migrate on their own.

As expected for a species whose Fight or Flight response seems to be replaced with a Flight or Hide response, martial culture does not come naturally to them. This is reflected in the titles they give those who face the Jungle's predators head on. Names in their language translated as "bait", "tough to chew", and "distractingly loud".

The closest thing this species has to venerated defenders are the Havenkeepers. These technically minded individuals repair, maintain, and renovate the haven's traps and defenses in order to maintain their tribe's safe spaces.

Hunting and gathering are still the main way to acquire food. Although sections of the safe havens are dedicated to seeding edible plants and the more docile fauna of the planet for future harvest the next tribe a passes through. It might make the natives good at large area ranching if displaced on another world.

They would be agile and sneaky to evade the world's many predators. Unique biological traits could be toxic or foul smelling bodily fluids to discourage predation. Hooked fingers and toes to make climbing trees, cliffs, and caves easier.

Apparel culture is to wear clothing and paints to match the surround terrain to avoid predators. Common practice is to have clothes be one color on outside and another color on the inside to turn inside out when leaving a terrain area for practicality.

Architecture jungle side is fairly sparse, with little decoration given to their tent caravans. Cave side temples and buildings are built up over generations to give their descendants nicer accommodations the next time they come around.

Elegant communal tombs for their dead are kept for the dead in the caves. To be "lost in the jungle" (i.e. not recovering your body while migrating) is a fate seen as horrific as the dead spirit will be devoured by vicious jungle spirits. Only the caves are where the dead natives can rest easy, guarding and protecting the havens for the next generation.

What I've seen no one talk about is the fact we've heard nothing about the droids both of the fighter and ground force type, a Lucrehulk can hold 1500 Vultures and over a quarter million B1's, so the question is where are they? And usually a Lucrehulk was with a fleet so that's more firepower that could be missing.

Maybe it is unfisnished lucrehulk , stolen from shipyard? Like missing parts of the ship, droid personal while some of it is just carcases? Or one that just fell on the planet and survived? Well, barely?

It could be said that neimodians put a lot of money into designing those, so theoretically it must posses the ability to leave the planet once repaired... And some of its parts cuted? To make it lighter. Basically a rip off version of Frankenstein of a ship.

And considering that it was empty when they found it, and missing chunks of it, including droid foundry... Or still having , but missing required ore materials for production! Hence why came to minda.

Basically they need materials and metals to fix the droid army!

Maybe the primitives can use this portrait from stellaris?

I don't really have a name for them.

Some type of rat men that live in underground caverns that harvest drug mushrooms important to their culture. They would be small, maybe a little taller than Yoda. And they should be horrendously ugly

We are NOT bringing Skaven to starwars.
Now when you said it... Imagine rat empire in some far-away place where they achieved high-tech and overcome their destructive nature to become a high-end society which THRIVES on their idillic planet... with other planets in system full-on hardcore warpstone hellholes (imagine tiberium-words) which are mined by robots. Ofc the rats are snorting warp-dust almost dayly and devolve in bloodthirsty psychos if they dont get a fix....
SURELY there is no chance in hell it can be like that out there... SURELY.

I wonder if one day anyone gonna adopt the LoTGH way: Multiple smaller ships, but have firing solution of a few light seconds
During the bacta war the rogue rogue squadron (the double rogue is important since the new republic couldn't be seen breaking the fragile peace so the rogue squadron had gone rogue, get it?) members managed to slave like 200 light freighters with launchers to one targeting computer to coordinate a barrage on the bridge of the lusankya (an Executor class ssd) and then it was forgotten (at least that's the only instance i remember of it happening)

Chapter 19
@Roncatan
Just read up on those guys. Killik would be a great addition for the mc to come across. Super useful race that keeps getting used by others. The jedi really did some messed up stuff to this race.
Sticking nanobots to wipe out the colony so that they couldn't be a technology species have decent homes and etc because they are bug species. The jedi would not have done that to a human like species.
Then you would need to pick a useful person to be the joiner.
What ever the joiner knows the nest colony would know. You get a sith. You get dark nests. You get a jedi. You get screwed over. The jedi did more evil to this species than the dark nests.

All female, human subspecies, genetically engineered to have extra wide hips that allow them to give birth to children with development equivalent to a 5-year-old instead of an infant. Who then grow rapidly to development equivalent to 15 and stay that way for about 10 years before having a growth spurt and becoming full adults.

Colorful hair, cat ears and tail.

I want to know what kinds of natives you want to see on Minda 2.
Giant climate adapted spiders with webs, faster than they should be, and cunning without being sentient. Think LotR Shelob. Bonus points if they have bladed legs.

I will say it again because it deserves emphasis: CLIMATE ADAPTED spiders.

Volcanic world? Varying shades of black, grey, and white with blood that is almost a coolant in its own right. Arctic world? Very furry, almost cuddly at first glance. Aquatic world? Uses its silk to form paddles, sails, and nets with brightly colored carapace - giant wind surfing Hawaiian spiders!

Giant. Wind-surfing. Hawaiian/Maori. Tropical spiders.

It'll be great, I promise.

Star wars fanfics don't have nearly enough wild and wacky shit to make it feel like a galaxy far, far away.

Las needs something dangerous enough to occupy his crazy ass (but effective!) army officer, and a super dangerous beast like that can be used as a hook for roping in both Wookie and Trandoshan hunters as well as more generalized big game hunters. Add a little more spice in his life.

And for the QQ folks - sequence where Las (or somebody) inadvertently pulls a Conan and has an epic shot on holovid of him shooting down spiders with a repeater while a scantily clad (because the spiders almost got her, y'know, no porn bait here no sirree) woman (or man) looks up at him and everyone takes it WILDLY out of context.

There are three things a Pirate deserves.
The Block, The Noose, The Firing Squad.

Looks like we have very interesting people coming about.
I predict great shenanigans because of some dickbaggery going on in the background.

I'm imagining that minda two has either togruta, or Twi'leks. Maybe both representing two cultures. We could have nomadic pastoralists for Togruta think of the polynesians for dress, and settled Twi'leks Agrarians think Mesopotamian.

Since he's hiring old clones wouldn't it be ironic if he gathered old battle droids too? Have them both working with each other ;) would also help with his manpower problem for crewing ships for his fleet

interesting discussion about the morality of torture over on QQ.

That's because we're the most enlightened beings on the interwebs! We won't knife fight you over getting the power conversion ratio of hypermatter in an ISD reactor wrong. We're so enlightened, we won't even knife fight you for not including lewds! We might grumble, though, but that just further shows how enlightened we are.

Also, pirates/slavers/etc. aren't people, so what happens to them isn't of consequence. The military often uses the 'NHI' saying when fighting terrorists ('no humans involved'). I think your latest chapter helps to reinforce this in regards to the baddies in your story.

If we're pulling from different franchises I can think of at least two. If you want to use a species that will integrate when conquered I would suggest the Hissho from Endless Space. Aztec Samurai Bird people who have semi oracular swords that can predict their wielders deaths.

If you want a species that will need to be killed i would suggest the Necrophages from Endless Legend. Necromantic Bugs that want to eat you.

As members of The Crowns, the crew he was a part of, the Golden Eyes, were sent to intercept some miners in a far off claim.
Apparently they somehow managed to get the whole exterior painted gold.
Somewhere in an entirely different galaxy where there is only war, a skeletal emperor on a golden throne might not appreciate xenos pirates using the name of gold in vain, especially since the Lucrehulk is only painted gold instead of being solid gold.

The fuckers known as the Zann Consortium. I never played Empire At War, on account of the fact that I was born a year before it was released, but I had done my fair share of wiki diving. They were a smuggling ring of sorts, with their leader being fucking insane enough to hijack Old Man Palpies personal Star Dreadnought, then just give it back.
If the pirate threat got big enough, and Tarry failed to respond, it would be up to the great Admiral Wasti to save the day. It would be proof of Tarrys incompetence and could get him a great deal of fame and political sway.
You know, when (not if) Governor Las Mola manages to completely dismantle the Crowns and their operations, wouldn't it be such cruel and amusing irony if the Zann Consortium, almost certain to have issues with their expansion operations being disrupted, would blame that excessively ambitious Sector Admiral Wasti? Wasti would technically get what he wanted, but then we all know that the chances of Wasti actually winning against Tyber Zann, and the resources he commands, is just as likely as a Hutt donating to charities.

So, I admit that I am getting ahead of myself with these next statements, but maybe this could give Commodore Veers the chance to expand her accolades in her campaign to defend Minda and neighboring systems from a heightened pirate threat, but not outright war as I don't think the Zann Consortium would risk open conflict with the Empire, while the rest of the sector burns and struggles under an incompetent admiral. Of course, Commander Grant would also get the chance to spill copious amounts of criminal blood (I can't help but wonder if her Alderaanian ancestry is House Ulgo).

With such distinguished officers of the Imperial Navy and Army, respectively, this could have the unintended side effect of putting the spotlight on our dear governor (what else would we expect?) when all he wanted to do was protect Minda and his immediate neighboring systems as any proper governor should. Again, I am getting ahead of myself, but a man can hope, right?

excessively ambitious Sector Admiral Wasti
Honestly the monologue shows he's an idiot and that's probably why the consortium chose to expand to this sector (with the moff mostly absent and the admiral lacking intelligence to such a tragic degree) so the MC will probably become hostile to Zann and like Thrawn get on his "kill this man in revenge" list after dismantling his operations, why do i say the Admiral is an idiot? 'Cause for all his monologuing about dumping the responsibility on the moff while imagining the glory of a decisive engagement to propell his career ... he seems to forget he's the admiral of the sector fleet and is the idiot responsible for sector security, meaning the both of them are going to lose their heads due to his greed and lack of proper awareness of his own responsibilties once someone high enough gets informed of the clusterfuck going on
