You can only vote for six, not seven.

 

This is basically the same thing as what Jim Starluck does, IIRC, except his system uses last 10 votes instead of last 5.

The reason ERROR CANNOT COMPUTE shows up is because as of vote 133 the fic with the highest number of points is predicted to be Bait & Switch (at 1164 points, just ahead of NSW), and it cannot actually win, which throws off all the predictions after that. If we ignore this, your list is probably mostly right.

Ah, I just did the math in an excel spreadsheet. I collected and entered the data manually. I did say I was bored at work, but not so bored as to do 10 whole votes (11 vote totals). As such, I only entered the data for votable stories rather than the stories that "can't" update. My formatting was also lazy, so I basically need to re-work the sheet if I want to include more/future data.

 

You are correct there, but seeing as Nemesis is out of rotation me and pepperjack keep the flame of hope for it's revival alive by voting for it in the "Nonexistent" 7th slot. Whatever way Ack tallys the votes, it removes any invalid votes like what we gave for the 7th slot.

I don't know about anyone else, but I've never actually put an X by a seventh-slot vote. It may look that way to the naked eye, but that's hardly my fault.

I thought you were putting a Х, but apparently you're actually putting a Χ (which was admittedly my second idea).

 

Yours probably would have been better, but in certain fonts -- including this one, apparently -- mine works, too.

 

OK, I'm missing something here, the 'X's look identical pixel for pixel... Is one of them not an 'X'?

I've even tried copy/pasting into a text editor and changing the fonts a few times, still identical...

 

Try copying just the lone character into a Google search bar. That's how I figured out what january1may was using.

 

The vote counter strips it out (and informs me, but I ignore it) so no harm done.

Anyways, I had a bit of contention over the last Alea Iacta Est chapter, so have a slightly shorter one to cover the Empire's immediate reaction.

Next up will be Slippery Slope. Possibly Tuesday, more likely Saturday.

After that will be Price of Bood, then It Gets Worse, then Trump Card. Whee.

Quick question, did Ack state the reason Slippery Slope is not up for voting elsewhere? I'm guessing either it's a story he wants to update on his own terms, it's been recently updated, or he doesn't feel like writing more.

As it happens, neither of your three possibilities is right, anyway.

Slippery Slope is not up for voting because it was caught in the "lowest scoring story gets off the list" thing a few months ago. Now, the reason it was the lowest scoring story might well have had to do with one of your possibilities (it also most definitely had to do with the fact that I, personally, dislike it and didn't vote for it).
