That whole six hours thing applies to only that James guy and he had some alterations done.

That was a specific spell that involved removing a vampire's heart as part of the ritual. But you don't actually care about that, you're just Vaermina-posting.

Someone give the demon lass a Darwin Award.

What a fascinating effect this has on his personality. He's almost like a robot aside from... what? a few minutes or so after feeding. This would make a pretty interesting - if hard to write - full story on it's own. There's not that many BL fics but few there are have MCs thought processes significantly less affected (initially and on the surface at least). Have you read 'If the Ring Fits...'?

Also, if his ring can charge on vampire hearts how come he isn't topped off already? Judging from the number of fledges Scoobies slay per night (despite how little sense this makes logistics wise) there should be more then enough of them wandering about to keep him in high charge percentage.

There was no spell involved, just an operation to remove the heart whole.

 

Demons may technically lack any kind of gender, plus he may be inclined to think of them as nothing more than monsters who like to prey on innocent people who can't defend themselves so treating them as people may be something he finds difficult.
We know that paragon doesn't really consider demons, or at least most of them, to be people seeing as they are practically made of evil, so I doubt that a Black Lantern one would be any better in this regard.

She may have easily stripped naked because she considered him to not be a threat plus she has been a vamp for a short time and may still be on a power trip and considered herself invincible.

And yeah 'If the ring fits' is really an interesting story about a Black Lantern SI that I think becomes an agent for the government going under the name Sentinel if I remember correctly.
Sadly I don't think that that particular SI is going to become Jade's boyfriend seeing as he kinda killed her boss, Talia, along with a whole lot of Shadows by disintegrating them right in front of her.
Oh and one of the more recent chapters has a wonderful pearl of wisdom that everyone should trust and listen to.

Vaermina the Black Lantern just ripped out the vamps heart without performing any kind of operation or surgery on her, so yeah, dusting happens.

Also that if Anti-Green Lantern is involved her get a different color ring as well.

2) He is using some power
3) He doesn't get much power per heart

It wasn't.

 

Sure he did; he used his hand rather than a scalpel or whatever but the only disqualifier I can see is that it wasn't for medical purposes and even that's arguable.

 

He may find it difficult to charge his ring because he needs to ambush vamps to take their hearts.

Seeing as he has so little charge it may be difficult to use some of the rings abilities like increased strength to just fight them.

He didn't try to do anything else.
The other guy removed the heart in a surgical manner and knew enough about how vamps work to do it without the patient dusting on the spot after the removal.
Zaul probably doesn't know how vamps work all that well so he lacks the knowledge of how to remove a vamps heart without them turning into dust on the spot, and he probably wouldn't try to do it even if he does because then he would have a super strong demon that would try to kill him after he rips the heart out.
Seeing as he doesn't have that much of a ring charge being torn limb from limb is probably something he would like to avoid.

Also just had a thought that maybe the Scoobies wouldn't know that he's a Black Lantern seeing him as just a guy with a magic black ring.
Ripping hearts out to survive isn't really something exclusive to Black Lanterns so it isn't really a clue to what the ring is.
If they don't know about Black Lanterns from comics then they would probably think it is just some magical necromantic ring instead of something from the comics.
It would also be difficult to see the symbol seeing as the ring is black.

The other explanation is that maybe Zoat decided that DC comics don't exist in this Buffy universe so they wouldn't know what a Power Ring even is in the first place

 

The fact that the vampire in question had to go to a specialist demon surgeon kind of implicitly means there's some special procedure involved to avoid getting dusted. Not that you can just rip out the heart any way you like.

 

John had a good reason to do that.

 

From the language Zoat used he is a vampire but the ring bound his soul to his corpse so he is like Angel, a vampire with a soul, difference being he always had his, or he was referring to both of them as being undead and i could be wrong.

 

I would think the corpse appearance of a Black Lantern is similar enough to a Buffyverse vampire that the vampire assumed incorrectly, and he's just a normal undead Black Lantern. Also, remember that Pauls don't have souls.

 

No... It means he wanted the rest of his body intact so he could get his revenge...

 

Oh right forgot about that... thinking about that what would a soul created by wearing a Black Power Ring would do i wonder, probably be pretty predisposed towards being undead.
