1. For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.

  2. Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.

There are two ways to prevent the conversion of
    "[x]" into "◾", or rather:
    • [x]

    The first way:

    Consider the string "[b][/b]".
The BBCode interpreter will convert it into the string "".
But the text you post is interpreted only once. This provides the obvious hack:

    e.g. "[[b][/b]x]", or "[x[i][/i]]" will be printed as "[x]".

    The second way:

Simply select "Don't use smileys." under "Attachments and other options" underneath the text-editing field.

This will however (rather obviously) also prevent you from using smileys in the common way in that post. So instead of "8)", you will get "8)".

You can also simply use a capital X rather than x. ;)

    Indeed.
But for some reason, half the people don't.

    And GMs have been complaining.

So I just wanted to have it posted somewhere, so that you can just give people a link, or copy the instruction, instead of describing it thousandfold.

Then... it's not the GM's fault if the votes get missed on a quick skimthru, no?
