It never made sense that the sun wukong inspired pokemon is, for some reason, fire type, instead of rock type... the fighting type can remain, considering the buddhist title at the end of the journey, but the only aspect of sun wukong that is fire is his eyes, but there's no pokemon move that is basically eye beams or whatever

They have "Time Stop" in Pathfinder just be this lame ass "you move super fast, as if you took another turn (used 12 seconds as if they were 6 seconds), but time never actually stopped"
then they have "Time Stop" in DND be this "you have jumped outside of the realm of time, such that you affect nothing, but have gained more time as if time stopped"

It's fine in literature but this is games with multiple party members. You'd just be like: "Then the wizard used time stop and killed the enemy." or "The wizard used time stop and the party shanked the enemy."

It's fine if you nerf it somehow like it only works on lower tier enemies or there are limits as to what you can do in time stop or any other nerf but unlimited true time stop just can't be balanced in dnd.

To stop something is to cause it to not progress with respect to something else. The time X experiences cannot be stopped with respect to the time X experiences, as if 0 seconds pass in 1 second that implies 1=0. To stop the time X experiences with respect to the time Y experiences is equivalent to speeding up the time Y experiences with respect to the time X experiences.

The choice of describing it as speeding up you rather than slowing down the entire world is basically to avoid giving odd connotations of a 9th-level (in 3.5/PF) being more wide-ranging in effect than many epic spells (affecting the entire world is on par with shit like Karsus' Avatar). Also avoids weird shit like someone "immune" to Time Stop seeing everything stop any time anyone in the world uses Time Stop.
