Even if my bodyguard could save me from a sniper in dramatic fashion by getting a premonition a second before, and pulling me down before my head splatters, I still wouldn't feel safe knowing an assassin was trying to kill me and that they only had to catch my guard lacking once.

Does it matter? Las has been almost assassinated, like, three times already. Just because the newest guy to want him dead is a named character it doesn't really change anything. He'll just have to keep up his already-there anti-assassination measures and hope it's enough. There's no point in adding extra stress.

Organic labor is nice and all but you're stuck in the outer rim where your man power is practically nonexistent compared to the inner rims population, it's why the separatists relied so heavily on droid armies to punch above their weight.
 
Well it looks like he might get rewarded with the traitor Moff's territory after the purge. If nothing else Hiral might decide to make an explicit deal with Las to give him his position once he is gone. Plus, being named the 2nd in command could give him a lot more control and work, especially after he finally got a "normal" work week.
 
Heh it seems like Moff Mola just got handed what he needs to get rid of the slavers in his sector.

Now I'm betting on that he will have to assist whoever takes over Moff Surrde's sector in pacifying and stabilizing it, thus it seems like the guild is about to become a multi sector organization, and it might become the reason for why the Pentastar Allignment ends up fully transitioning into the Imperial Remnant instead only part of it.

There is always the Guild. I think a good 60% of them are people who would be criminals in any other sector. The crimes they are committing are just legalized now.

First rule of discussing crimes over long distances or really at all: Don't Use Names! And especially don't spell out the actual crimes you committed verbally, use metaphors instead. You would think with all the crime and corruption in the Imperial hierarchy they would be more competent at it.

Probably a bit of hyperbole. I am guessing slugthrowers are at least a known thing in every Outer Rim sector. However Surrde's sector probably makes a special and identifiable kind of slugthrower make.

Oh so it is the military guy in the Braxant sector. Guess he sees the Guild as "tainting" the military hierarchy of the Empire. Also the Outer Rin Sieges were not "glory days" they were absolute bloodbaths on both sides.

And Las still doesn't understand why everyone is trying to get him to take time off. I am pretty sure Las was breaking labor laws even outside the Sector at that point. That is "non-sentient" levels of work hours.

Las failing to graduate from the Imperial Academy but earning an economics doctorate would be hilarious. Imagine Kaine trying to set up the Alignment's government and finding out one of his Moffs has a degree in economics.

It also isn't so much organic labor as skilled organic labor. Slavery is still a big thing so there are at least enough organics to sustain that industry. Education in the Outer Rim is patchwork at best and nonexistent on a lot of planets. Trying to find someone for a skilled technical position on most worlds this far out is a trial.

Meanwhile droids come with most if not all of that technical know how downloaded into their droid brains. With updates a mere Holonet purchase and download away. Spending years training an organic versus getting a "skilled worker" shipped in from a factory has a lot of people defaulting to the latter.
 
Well, quite a string of conspiracy detected.

It seems we've seen the knock-on effects of Las' "Purge of 500". We knew that most of the people taken were businessmen or high/mid level bureaucrats in various worlds getting a cut in the corruption pie, but some were governors under his jurisdiction too. Replacing them with people like him means the corridors for shady business is diminishing.

The loud man Suurde did have the vibes of a guy who wants to go on expeditions and conquer new species. Bet he must've been pissed that the lizard folk were discovered on Minda-2 and was peacefully subordinated by Las instead of "Glorious Conquest". Now he and the rest of the corrupt moffs are starting to hurt from stalled replenishment of their slave workforce and had tried to crush the growing new trend of "Good Governance" that Las had started.

Slavery of Imperial citizens from local worlds
Attempted Assassination of a Grand Moff
Sabotage of vital Imperial Infrastructure


Las better prepare a gallows, cause Hiral and Kaine might prefer a show than stare a scorched wall
 
just a thought will the spy sister of las give thorne a list of name's to fill out the intelligence agency? or perhaps she lets her MI buddies know jobs and higher wages are in myto oh and did she forget to mention more pay , more benefits and less political purges just to look good but a actually working moff.

As it was stated a few chapters ago, Surrde focused so much of his budget on the military his population is backwards tech wise, so instead of blasters his "rebels" use Slug throwers, so he's the only one with widespread slug throwers in his sector.
