    This sounds really sarcastic.

And if it isn't I doubt your hopes would be fulfilled.

Wonder Woman’s weakness is that Truth is a fundamental aspect of her nature, and this demonic state is, with regard to the Truth of her Self, a massive deception. Exploiting that would require a modicum of empathy, though, and between Paul and the Nazis the only source of that is a superpower that the former won't think to flip the switch for.

figured it was WW, but somewhere in hypertime I like to think it was a demonic Ma Hunkel who now lives up to the moniker "Red Tornado."

Aresia was apparently magically given Amazon powers just less than WW's upon being adopted into the tribe and Aresia knew enough alchemy and/or biotechnology to create a biotoxin capable of killing every man on the planet.

Which certainly implies that the only reason the Earth in JLU doesn't run under the Pax Amazonia is that WW's mother doesn't feel like ruling the entire planet.

I can infer what you are saying and I agree. But what is the meaning of the word "Pax"?

If I recall correctly, she was only able to do that by reading science books, which are illegal on Themyscira for fear of tainting the Amazons' minds.

Pax is a Latin word that means a couple of thing based on context, but it basically boils down to either 'peace' or 'person/persons', though that second one is mainly used in more commercial settings according to google.

I was basing that on "Pax Romana" the Roman golden age of "sustained Roman imperialism, order, prosperous stability, hegemonial power and expansion" as wikipedia describes it.

There was also a Pax Britannica and a Pax Americana.

So basically a shorthand for these people dominate through hard and/or soft power.

Nazi world would be under "Pax Germanica," for example.

Exactly what is stopping everyone else in JLU earth from completely destroying themesira once they declare they are the culprits of the largest terrorist attack and genocide in history?

Are the rest of the women in the world just going to fall in line after their sons, bothers and fathers were murdered?

The only logical result of such an attack is the Amazon culture being utterly destroyed in reprisal and I doubt their weakened God's are going to provide enough defense against the entire planet including other nations with access to powerful magicians and other gods.

There is no Pax Amazonia in a universe that operates under the rules of logic, they are too insignificant to matter without continental amounts of handwavium.

Ms. Brauer frozen in place, hand around the right horn of Wonder Woman's helmet.

I transition down, purple healing ray deployed and firing at Ms. Brauer. Atom Man's energy discharge has charred the outer surface of Wonder Woman's armour, though I don’t know how much of the energy actually got through. I also don't know whether Danner Enhanciles can survive cold fields. The smaller ones Leonard uses will freeze a normal person's arm or leg solid, but with super tough people it varies depending on how their toughness works. I can still see her lights, but I'm not entirely sure if that means that her brain is still working or just that her soul is hanging around her body for the moment.

Wonder Woman raising her right leg to stomp on Atom Man.

With her attention focused, I form a railgun and fire a mage slayer round at the side of her helmet.

    "Geh!"

Atom Man grabs her descending foot and charges for another blast.

My railgun round hits the side of her head and the runes on the helmet flicker.

    "Ah?"

    "Helmet."

Atom Man takes advantage of her momentary confusion to push himself upright, using his hold on her foot to toss her back-.

I abandon my constructs, put an environmental shield around Ms. Brauer and eliminate friction-. She's off, alive -there's a lot of dead tissue but her regenerative abilities are already kicking in- and as safe as I can make her, though she'd probably be in a lot of pain if she were conscious.

Wonder Woman crashes down and immediately uses her flight to get back to her feet.

I generate a cold gun and shoot it at her chest. She blocks it with her right bracer, then pulls her legs up to dodge Atom Man's overcharged shot. A second cold gun creates cold fields above, behind and to her sides, while I shove the slowly recovering Ms. Brauer out of the way.

    "She dead?"

I create a cold field underneath Wonder Woman, forcing her to keep her legs where they are and limiting her acceleration.

    "No."

    "Good."

He fires another overcharged blast and she moves her left bracer to block it, and immediately I fire a mage slayer through the cold field to her right! It hits, and the runes flicker again.

    "Working?"

    "No."

Why isn't it working? The round should drain power from the arcane architecture of the helmet, causing the spell to fail. Unless whoever made it used the same techniques that Atlantis 16 does and bind dozens of the same spells to the helmet in order to make them reinforce each other. Still, the effect should be weakening even if I'm only taking out one instance per hit.

Alternately, someone is remotely reapplying the spell. In which case I'm only disrupting what's there when I hit and achieving very little. Unless I can find the thing they're using to guide the spell, which could be her entire body because a demigoddess is highly thaumically active which would mean that I have to get the helmet off.

I fire small cold fields in front of Wonder Woman so that she can't break out by coming towards us.

    "I can't hit it!"

    "Working."

Eating the magic with a filament connection? Possible, but Diana has highly acute senses combined with rapid recovery.

"Do an overload when I shoot the helmet."

    "I'll need a second."

    "Fine."

I generate another cold gun and he stops firing, his armour glowing as he builds up power. I wonder whether he's more like the Kryptonite Man or Socialist Red Guardsman under there? Wonder Woman can block both cold rays without difficulty, but if I move them around enough it should keep her focused on-

    "Ready."

-them so that she won't spot the filament. In theory.

Filament through the ground, that will take down the lower cold field when I bring it up.

    "Go."

My railgun fires as green light bursts in a torrent of hard radiation, causing Wonder Woman to cringe slightly at the pain and shock, then the slight unsteadiness in the runes and I send the filament up and the cold field fails and latch onto the helmet.

    Drain.

    Compliance.

    "Naagh!"

Wonder Woman turns, slashing at my filaments and just.. taking the cold beams? I hit her armour with both beams -not sure how much damage that's doing- while I create multiple paths for the filament connection so that I can keep draining the-

    Drain complete.

    -helmet.

Wonder Woman collapses bonelessly, the helmet remaining suspended in my filaments as I take control of whatever magic was causing it to function. I float it over to myself, picking up pieces of rubble to make the remaining cold fields safe.

    "Dead?"

    "No."

"Okay." He begins glowing again. "I'll-."

"No. In most parallels she's a big deal. None of the others had something like this helmet. We should interrogate her."

There's a blast from behind us, and a rocket-.

Atom Man deploys his lasers and shoots the rocket in mid-air, then counter-fires at the cultist with the rocket launcher.

"We don't have time to argue. We need to hit their portal."

"Agreed. The Bat, can you pick up Donner and Wonder Woman?"

"I don't have restraints designed for people as strong as her."

    "No problem."

Magic suppression chains, titanium chains with carbon nanotube reinforcement and an inverted kinetic suppressor.

"I don't think she'll wake up, but that should hold her if she does."

"I will be with you in a moment."

I put a self-heating blanket around Ms. Brauer and leave a healing ray firing at her as Atom Man and I advance.

    ''is frozen'

    'raises'

    'railgun and fire a mage'

    'probably be in a'

Or the magic of Demon Earth is different enough compared to Earth 16 that it can resist it.

    'fires as green'

I feel like giving those chains to Donner last chapter would have maybe been a better tactic. Unless it's intentional because of Paragon not fully committing to his alliance, as shown by his internal narration last time.

Like I said yesterday: Instant hypothermia. Danner vitality can handle a lot ('resistant to bursting shells' and all that) but being slammed all at once by temperatures well below the freezing point of human flesh will tax even that. Even if she's not dead, she's out of this fight.

Ah, the joy of Lantern multi-tasking. Healing one ally while trying to protect another. Let's see the Nazi Green Lantern manage that. :p

See, this is why guys like Iron Man have chest-mounted weaponry. No need to risk letting go of someone to take a zero-range shot.

Heh, that moment of surprise. Like 'What the hell was that?!'.

At least now he's not in danger of getting pounded into a mud-hole... For the moment.

Good to see Donner will live. But right now, she's a liability that Wonder Woman-Hell will target if she thinks it'll give her an advantage... The challenge would be getting her clear, though...

Heh, literally boxing her in. A pity she's only slowed down by them a little, at worst.

Probably disappointed he doesn't get to try and kill OL... Yet.

Which is worrying. Usually, that's a sign of something being actively or divinely empowered...

Which means either lots of brute force - not really an option without someone stronger and faster than her - or cheap trickery. I think we can guess which OL prefers.

Well, try aiming. Surely your targetting system is better than just point-and-shoot? :p

Good thing you have a nice, big, green distraction right there...

Or, y'know, let OL copy your guns and let him fire half-a-dozen at once... Seriously, she can't block everything at once, surely. On the other hand, he's probably sandbagging to avoid giving too much away.

Kryptonite Man and Socialist Red Guardsman, for reference. Both of whom emit radiation from their altered bodily tissues. The difference being that the former can choose not to release radiation (I think?)

    Heh, sneaky sneaky.

Been a while since we've seen him use a trick that simple. Then again, a lot of his recent fights have involved fliers, or taken place in space, where filaments are harder to conceal like that.

    :D Om-nom-nom-nom!

And that's probably the most effect they've had during the whole fight... Seriously, Wonder Woman-1 OP, pls nerf. :p

...Excellent. [/Burns] Now to see what happens.

...Okay, that was... Not unexpected, but rather sudden.

Hold it, cowboy. I don't know if shooting prisoners is a common thing around here, but...

...The lady is more valuable alive. Admittedly, she may not be in the most talkative state, but still. o_O Also: Cultist guy, seriously? They just took down Wonder Woman. You think an RPG round will do anything? Talk about cocky. :p

Still no sign of Superman or the Kants. Odd that they haven't made contact yet. Maybe they didn't make it through this one?

    Ah, OL. Always prepared.

...Just be sure to reclaim that before you leave. Don't want the Nazis keeping any of that. Especially the spell-binding chains. They might not be able to reproduce the magic, but I would not put it past them to devise a technological equivalent somehow.

Also something you may want to make sure they don't keep. Then again, they might have something almost as good from the Kryptonian tech tree...

Surprisingly easy once they worked out how to stop her. Though I don't doubt that Herr Fledermaus was paying close attention to how OL fought... Now for the rest of the cultists, and their portal. Assuming that the Kryptonian trio did come through in this group, I suppose they're laying low just in case. If they didn't, it'll be interesting to see why...

He may have thought that they'd be weakened enough that it could work.

    True, Kryptonians were incredibly advanced.

And even if what they have has lower healing abilities, it may still be better than a Purple Ray since Zoat apparently made them magical in the story, so they don't function at full power outside of a magic environment, but the Kryptonian stuff would he pure tech so it should function everywhere.

You could argue that, but Ms. Brauer isn't much faster than a normal person. It wouldn't be much easier for her to get them on.

Because of Overman Earth-10 has focused specifically on studying and developing Kryptonian technology.
Magic is looked down upon remember what the doctor said earlier no one in the Third Reich takes it seriously.

Where did you get the silly idea I was suggesting Aresia's terrorism was the path to Pax Amazonia?

As I specifically pointed out in the message you quoted, Amazons can recruit. Zoat had the Donner enhanciles conquer a good chunk of modern South America with an inferior ability that requires popping out babies and waiting over a decade for them to mature.

And the Amazons could have done this at any point in the last three thousand years plus.

You think Medieval Europe would have been able to do shit to an army of effectively demigods?

If Hippolyta wanted to rule the world the Pax Amazonia would be celebrating a multi-millennium anniversary.

You forgot to mention the fact that they were also taught powerful plant magic by a superpowerful dryad, who may just be a full blown goddess now.

And the fact that the Sheeda damaged Brazil and South America enough for the Accala to take over.

They didn't do such a thing, they took over after the blue people from the future destroyed Latin America and they had the help of Euante a very powerful green elemental demi goddess that got super charged by the bark of the tree of the garden of eden.

IE the Accala didn't conquer shit, they just took over after the Sheeda destroyed the local governments.

Second the Amazons had to flee the main land because they were getting destroyed in battle and the handful of demi goddess they had weren't capable of making a difference.

Of course then centuries later Hercules went and raped a lot of them and that drastically increased the number of demi goddesses in their ranks, but by that point they were too scared to do anything with the outside world and were too afraid of dying without the blessings of their island.

They would have to drastically change culturally to decide to leave their little island and if they had tried to come out they would have eventually gotten flattened by someone.

I remember Mr Zoat saying that in this story, they left for Themyscira because the gods told them to do so. It's possible that not obeying that order would have had major consequences
